Canada has had many representatives who have managed to fly the home flag proudly and have gone on to join the UFC roster or get scooped up by other organizations following their respective appearances on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will meet the newest inductee to the boarder cartel ready to usher in the latest tale in Canadian justice in 2024 when the promotion returns to Toronto at UFC 297. A professional mixed martial artist since June 2018 and representing Burlington Training Centre, Serhiy Sidey holds a 10-1 record in 11 contests comprised of seven knockouts, one submission and two decisions. Sidey secured his contract from the UFC on week five as part of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series season seven in 2023. He has finished eight out of his 10 victories overall over the course of his career as a professional MMA fighter and has fought for several promotions including Battlefield Fight League.
In his MMA debut at BTC 3 Prophecy, he faced Avinash Chowtee and defeated him via unanimous decision. Sidey defeated PJ Ste-Marie via TKO in the second round. He defeated Chowtee for the second time via technical knockout in round three at BTC 4 Vandetta. Sidey defeated Kevin Popowick Bastien via TKO in round one at BTC 7. Then at BFL 68, he submitted Gerico Platon in the first round via triangle choke to pick up his first and only submission win as a professional. Sidey defeated Ali Wasuk via technical knockout in the fourth round in the main event of BFL 70. He defeated Austin Russell in the co-main event of BFL 72 via unanimous decision to earn his second decision win as a professional. Sidey defeated Walel Watson via TKO in the first round at BTC 19 Fight Night Kingston. He defeated Wasuk for the second time via technical knockout in round two at BFL 77.
In the co-main event of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series week five of season seven, Sidey defeated Ramon Taveras via TKO in the first round. The win scored Sidey the seventh knockout victory of his professional career in addition to a UFC contract in the process. When Sidey makes a verdict in the combat cage, he always has the final word when it gets carried out!
