Starting your professional career in the later stages of life is often used as a bridge between the generations to illustrate to the younger generation that age is just a number when reaching for your dreams. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will meet a seahawk of the Pacific pines whose taste for the ominous has spelled many an opponent’s bitter graveyard in the middleweight division for Unified MMA. A professional mixed martial artist since February 2016 and representing Ivan Salaverry MMA, Fay Bursell holds a 7-2 record in nine appearances comprised of four decisions, two knockouts and one submission. He has fought for several organizations over the course of his career as a professional MMA fighter including CageSport and Unified MMA. Bursell is 2-0 under the Unified MMA banner with a single finish under his belt in two appearances with the promotion to show for it. He has gone to the scorecards four times during his career in the professional ranks. All three of Bursell’s finishes during his time as a professional mixed martial artist have been inside the distance.
At CageSport 44, he faced Jon Gover and defeated him via TKO in the second round. Bursell knocked out Dominque Smith in round one at CageSport 45. He defeated Zach Cohn at CageSport 49 via unanimous decision. Bursell defeated John Simon via a split decision at CageSport 55. He defeated Ashton Charlton at ExciteFight Conquest of the Cage via a split decision. Then in his promotional debut with Unified MMA at Unified MMA 47, Bursell defeated Ali Charkie via unanimous decision.
In the main event of Unified MMA 50, he submitted Ryan Ford via rear-naked choke in the third round. The win earned Bursell the first submission victory of his professional career in addition to back-to-back wins under the Unified MMA banner in the process. This hawk’s omens are anything but a premonition at 36 years young!
