Angola’s Demarte Pena and Azerbaijan’s Shakhmar Sadygov emerged as victors in their drama-filled main events over two nights of sublime combat sports action at the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi.
On the first evening of hostilities, UAE Warriors 43 Arabia vs Africa on Friday 27th of September pitted a variety of intercontinental greats against each other in the Octagon resulting in 11 bouts of non-stop drama that enthralled the packed-out crowd. Jaws hit the floor when Egypt’s very own ‘Golden Boy’ Mahmoud Atef (5-2) knocked-out Iraq’s Issa Salem (9-6) in spectacular fashion with the best KO of the evening.
A superb war unfolded in the main event as Angolan bantamweight Demarte Pena (15-2) dominated his foe, Lebanon’s Marcel Adur (18-7) with pinpoint striking on the feet and hellacious ground ‘n pound on the floor to cement his legacy as the greatest lutador from Luanda.
The action continued apace the very next day for UAE Warriors 44 with the international roster keen to not be outshone over the two-day bonanza of mixed-martial arts, a format for which the promotion has become world famous. Certainly the fight of the night belonged to two massive undefeated prospects, Russia’s Gamid Khizriev (5-0) and Iran’s Abdullo Khodzhaev (5-1) who displayed immense courage and granite chins in a highly-entertaining contest. In a difficult night for the judges, it was Khizriev who kept his ‘O’ and handed Tehran’s Tajik tap-taker his first ever loss in a cracking battle. The main event lived-up to all the pre-fight hype as Thailand-based Azeri kickboxer, Shakhmar Sadygov (7-0) took the judges nod over Dubai’s Uzbek Sambo specialist, Jakhongir Jumaev (11-5) in a bout where both combatants had moments of ascendancy and hunted for the finish. With not a single seat in the ADNEC Centre left empty, the crowd screamed in excitement until the final bell after which it was Sadygov who took the split decision.
UAE Warriors 55 promises even more action as the Middle East’s best promotion returns with one of the most stacked cards of the year on the 23rd October live from Abu Dhabi!
