Two-division Bellator champion Patricio Pitbull’s first UFC bout is scheduled for April 12 in Miami, at UFC 314.

Due to his success in Bellator, he has been thrown straight to the featherweight elite, facing no.5 ranked Yair Rodriguez.

Pitbull, 38, has amassed a decent resume in MMA, going 36-7 in his career and earning the Bellator featherweight and lightweight belts, respectively.

His departure from the PFL, after its merger with Bellator was a long-winded one even going to various social media platforms pleading to be released.

But now he has got his wish and has finally ended up in the UFC and has wasted no time in calling out the top of the featherweight division claiming that Aljamain Sterling ran from a bout against him.

He said to mmafighting “Out of a sudden, they asked if I would fight Aljamain Sterling in March. I said I was in, but he ran. He said he needed more time to fight, that he would only be able to fight in April.”

To UFC fans who are unaware Patricio Pitbull has a stacked resume including beating former UFC fighter  Wilson Reis twice and beating Michael Chandler via TKO in one round in 2019.

He also has the potential to shake up multiple divisions having fought in three weight classes: bantamweight, featherweight and lightweight.

However, the Bellator legend is 37 and arguably passed his best, having last two of his last 3 with many fans initially pointing out that this would have been a much bigger signing five years ago.

With his age, Pitbull will be looking to make an immediate impact in the UFC octagon and surely be a contender to matchup against the winner of the vacant title featherweight championship between Alexander Volkanovski and Diego Lopes.

Interestingly they are both on the UFC 314 card so we shall see next month how those two bouts impact the future of the featherweight division and the legacy of the newly signed Patricio Pitbull.
