Michael Chandler vows to take Paddy Pimblett to his limits at UFC 314.
Paddy Pimblett (22-3, 6-0 UFC) remains undefeated inside the Octagon. At UFC 314, he will face the toughest challenge of his career to date. Michael Chandler (23-9, 2-4 UFC) is a two-time UFC lightweight title challenger and a former Bellator champion.
Both fighters are confident in their chances of victory. “Iron Mike” returns to the cage following a loss to Charles Oliveira but has already declared his intention to knock out the Brit.
“We will see. We will test his chin. We’ll test his gall, we’ll test his championship mentality, we’ll test his cardio, and we will test his heart,” Chandler said in an interview with Ariel Helwani. “Paddy Pimblett will be tested more than he has ever been tested in his entire life in April, just 7 short weeks away. It’s the biggest opportunity of his life. Does he rise to the occasion or does he sink? It remains to be seen.
“Either way, as I’ve said, I’ve been very respectful, cordial, posted the video of me wearing the Paddy Pimblett hair,” he continued.” This sport is fun for me, I’m going to enjoy it. We are going to have fun, I don’t need to hate Paddy Pimblett to want to separate him from consciousnesses. I don’t need to have any animosity to absolutely eviscerate this man.”
This electrifying lightweight showdown is set for April 13 in Miami. Paddy “The Baddy” has a golden opportunity to make a huge leap in the rankings. Liverpudlian currently holds the No. 11 spot, beating such names as Tony Ferguson, Bobby King Green and Jared Gordon. Michael Chandler meanwhile sits at No. 7, despite having fought only once in the past two years. “Iron” has been involved in a long-time rivalry with Conor McGregor, although the fight has never materialized.
