Cage Warriors lightweight champion George Hardwick’s upcoming title defense has been rescheduled, moving from Cage Warriors 185 to Cage Warriors 186 in London. Originally slated to face American challenger Lucas ‘Cassius’ Clay at CW 185 on March 14, 2025, Hardwick will now defend his title on March 21, 2025, at the indigo at The O2 in London.
Hardwick, 28, from Middlesbrough, UK, boasts a professional record of 13-2-0. He captured the lightweight title in July 2022 with a fourth-round knockout of Kyle Driscoll and has since defended it successfully against Chris Bungard and Yann Liasse. His most recent bout was a unanimous decision victory over Cristian Iorga at CW 176 in September 2024.
Challenger Lucas Clay, 28, hails from St. Louis, Missouri, and holds a 10-3 record. Known for his unorthodox fighting style and proficiency in submissions, Clay has never been finished in his professional career. This bout marks his first opportunity to compete for a Cage Warriors title.
Cage Warriors President Graham Boylan commented on the matchup, stating, “George Hardwick has an incredible opportunity to cement his legacy in Cage Warriors by becoming the first fighter to win a championship outright since Chris Fishgold in 2017. He’s got a huge test ahead of him in Lucas Clay, an unorthodox prospect who’s never been finished.”
CW 186: London will feature additional bouts, including a featherweight world title fight between Harry Hardwick and Javier Garcia and a light heavyweight title fight involving James Webb. The event will be broadcast live on UFC Fight Pass and international broadcast partners.
Tickets for CW 186 are available through Eventim and AXS.
