Once the nerves are out of the way, the second appearance in a promotion tends to lead to better results, like turning over a new leaf with an abundance of opportunities for growth and development throughout the calendar year. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will be introduced to a serpent of sinister looks ready to reach the maturing stage and take another bite out of the yellow glove apple at Flyweight for Cage Warriors by planting his position and putting down homegrown roots at Cage Warriors 198 on November 22 in night number two of their Manchester double dip from the BEC Arena. A professional mixed martial artist since March 2024 and representing Kombat Jiu-Jitsu, Matthew Friel owns a 1-2 record with his only win coming via submission. He has fought for several promotions throughout his career as a professional MMA fighter including Budo Fighting Championships, Clan Wars and Cage Warriors. Friel has spent his whole career in the United Kingdom. He has a single first-round finish under his belt through three appearances inside the professional ranks. He fought for various organizations as an Amateur before turning professional including Cage Conflict, Cage Legacy Akuma Fighting Championship and Cage Warriors Academy Ireland.
In his professional MMA debut at Clan Wars 49, he faced Jamie McAleese and went on to tap him out in the first round. The victory scored Friel the first submission win of his professional career. He also earned his first overall victory as a professional mixed martial artist in the process.
For his sophomore outing under the Cage Warriors banner from the BEC Arena in Manchester on November 22 at Cage Warriors 198, Friel will face off against Ryan Hewitt in a Flyweight bout. Good luck Matthew!
