Nathaniel “The Prospect” Wood (11-3) makes the first defence of his newly acquired Cage Warriors Bantamweight title as he takes on undefeated Welshman, Josh “Crazy Horse” Reed (7-0), at Cage Warriors 86 on September 16th live from The Indigo at the O2 Arena in London.
Wood won the title earlier this month at CW84 when he took on Switzerland’s Marko Kovacevic. In an action packed, back and forth first couple of minutes both seemed happy to stand and trade with each other. However, on the break Wood caught Kovacevic with a right hand that stung the Swiss native. Unable to fully recover Kovacevic retreated but Wood used a combination of unrelenting pressure, technical striking and aggression to score a highlight reel first round KO finish. With this win Wood was crowned the new Cage Warriors Bantamweight champion of the world (much to the delight of his coach and close friend Brad Pickett) and put his division on notice.
Wood will now be looking to retain his title at CW86 but his opponent, Reed is no easy push over. Reed has only gone to decision once in his relatively short career and has two wins by TKO/KO and four by submission. Can “The Prospect” make the O2 his home away from home? Or will Reed remain undefeated and become the new Cage Warriors Bantamweight champion of the world?
Cage Warriors 86 will also feature exciting flyweight Sam Creasey, and Irish bantamweight, Darren O’Gorman, both of whom fought alongside Wood at CW84. Additionally, Wood’s teammate, Corrin Eaton, will be on the card and will make his promotional debut when he takes on Dean Trueman, and Welsh Welterweight star, Lew Long, will also be featured.
Cage Warriors 86 is live from The Indigo at the O2 Arena in London on September 16th 2017.
