Scottish boxer Monty Ogilvie fought and won on Saturday night on the MTK Evolution show.
Ogilvie was originally due to face experienced campaigner Reynaldo Cajina in what was to be Ogilvie’s first six round fight.
The fight with Cajina fell through at the last minute meaning Ogilvie now had to face the current Slovakian champion Ivan Godor.
He didn’t let the last minute change affect him too much as he recorded a points victory over Godor. He said,
“Saturday night was a tough fight. I experienced a last minute change of opponent and wound up boxing a tougher guy. Who was current Slovakian champion so was a good solid win. But was a hard rough fight.”
How did he feel competing on his first six rounder?
“It was good to get the 6 rounds under my belt. I felt better in Rounds 4,5,6. Always been a slow starter so suits me better.”
MTK Scotland recently announced a show at the Crowne Plaza in Glasgow on May 25th however Ogilvie is not looking to fight on that card but instead focusing on the event in June then a Scottish title shot.
“I am not out in May. Will be boxing again on the MTK show in June. Then I will be looking at a Scottish title. I was back in the gym tonight. Right back on it. Hard work. Dedication!”
Dedication indeed.
