Women in the world of MMA have been fighting to earn an equal share of the pie ever since women’s MMA pioneer Ronda Rousey graced the UFC with her run of dominance and forever changed how women in MMA were viewed. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will meet a Pacific hawk of the sea ready to swoop in and take Legacy Fighting Alliance by storm and usher in a new dawn in women’s MMA. A professional mixed martial artist since February 2019 and representing Catylist Mixed Martial Arts, Sam Hughes owns an undefeated 4-0 record as a professional comprised of two submissions, one knockout and one decision. Hughes is currently 1-0 under the Legacy Fighting Alliance banner and has finished 75 percent of her victories and has made it to the judge’s just once in her tenure as a pro-MMA fighter thus far. Both of her professional finishes have come inside the first two rounds with only one of four wins overall making it out of round one with a single second-round stoppage as well.

In her MMA debut at COGA 62 Supreme Showdown 4. she faced Kayla Frajman and went on to submit her via rear-naked choke in the first round. Hughes defeated Loren Benjar via TKO in the second round at XKO 46 Summer Bash. Then at Excitefight Battle at the Bay 15, Hughes tapped out Bethany Christensen via armbar in the first round to pick up her second submission win as a professional.

In her debut fight for Legacy Fighting Alliance at LFA 81, she took on Lisa Mauldin and defeated her via unanimous decision. The win earned Hughes the first decision victory of her professional career along with win number one under the Legacy Fighting Alliance banner. It is safe to say that this hawk of the pacific dispatches of opponents with laser-like and surgical percision!
