Agy “The Wolverine” Sardari (13-2) has a new opponent for his lightweight title defence at Cage Warriors 121.
Donovan “Vegas” Desmae (14-5) will step in on short notice to replace Mehdi Ben Lakhdhar (5-0-1), who was forced to withdraw from the fight due to injury.
Sardari vs. Desmae will top the bill on the second night of Cage Warriors’ latest ‘THE TRILOGY’ series of events.
All three shows will take place at London’s York Hall on Thursday 18th, Friday 19th and Saturday 20th March.
“Though I’m sorry to announce that Mehdi has pulled out of our main event on 19th March, fans can still look forward to a fantastic headline bout,” said Cage Warriors President, Graham Boylan.
“Donovan is an experienced competitor, and he accepted the challenge without a moment’s hesitation. His performances in Cage Warriors have proved he’s one of the best lightweights in Europe, and he will be in shape and ready to give Agy all he can handle when the cage door closes.”
Desmae is one of the most seasoned lightweights in Europe’s leading MMA promotion and comes into this match on the back of a pair of stoppage wins. The Belgian athlete scored a second-round TKO against Alexander Jacobsen at CW105, then submitted Tim Barnett in the first round at CW107.
Sardari comes into this contest riding a seven-fight win streak – capped by a dramatic comeback win against Jack Grant in December to claim the Cage Warriors lightweight championship.
The first night of the ‘THE TRILOGY’ features a middleweight fight between Jamie Richardson and Kent Kauppinen at CW120. The weekend’s events will conclude with Morgan Charriere’s featherweight title defence against Jordan Vucenic at CW122. All three shows will be broadcast live on UFC Fight Pass.
