The new light heavyweight contender knocked out Dominick Reyes after a spertacular 2 rounds at UFC Vegas 25 tonight, landing a spectacular spinning back elbow that had Reyes out cold before he hit the canvas. The finish came in the second round following an incredible back and forth which saw both men rocked.
Reyes was fighting for the first time since suffering an upset knockout loss to Jan Blachowicz in a battle for the then-vacant 205-pound championship. The fight came about when Jon Jones moved up in weight, vacating the belt just one fight after successfully defending his title via unanimous decision over Reyes in a bout many observers felt Reyes deserved to win.
Reyes took the center of the cage and pushed off a few jabs, followed byb a pair of kicks. A hard kick to the body landed 30 seconds in and backed Prochazka up. Reyes tried to get his left hand going, but Prochazka threw a three-punch combo to make some noise. A Reyes left hand was on the mark, but Prochazka landed a right that wobbled Reyes. Two minutes in, Reyes got inside and took Prochazka to the canvas. He couldn’t get much done from half-guard before Prochazka powered his way back to the feet.
And there, Prochazka put together several heavy punches and a kick. He seemed to sense Reyes was hurt and stayed aggressive. He backed Reyes to the fence, but Reyes pushed out and fired his own response. Reyes kicked to the body, but Prochazka didn’t seem fazed. Reyes landed big punches with a minute left, but Prochazka still seemed to walk right through them. They took turns landing in tight quarters, and Reyes started bleeding from his nose. In the final 10 seconds, Prochazka threw punches in bunches right to the horn.
Round two of the UFC Vegas 25 main event begins and Prochazka quickly comes forward with pressure. Dominick Reyes circles out and then lands a good kick to the body. Big shots from both fighters again in the pocket. Reyes is bleeding now. He lands a nice back fist as Jiri is charging in. That doesn’t slow down the Czech standout however who continues to batter Reyes with front kicks and punches. Dominick Reyes lands a big counter left that rocks Prochazka. He jumps on a guillotine choke as Jiri shoots. The hold does not appear to be tight and eventually the former RIZIN champ pulls his head free. He begins working from full guard. After a couple of shots he jumps to side control. Big shots from Jiri. Dominick scrambles to his feet but Prochazka is all over him. Jiri throws a spinning elbow and this one is all over.
