Stelios Theocharous 2-3-0 is a Cypriot professional Mixed Martial Artist currently competing in the Welterweight Division. A professional competitor since 2018. He has competed for Ultimate Challenge MMA, Celtic Gladiator, MTK MMA, Contenders and Fightstar Championship.
I’d like to start this off by thanking you for taking the time to speak to me today Stelios, how has fight camp been going in the build-up to your highly anticipated Return to the cage at Fightstar Championship 20?
“Fight camps been good, obviously sometimes there’s good days and bad days in training, but very good in general. I haven’t stopped training since my last fight.”
The last fight fans got to see you in action was at Contenders31, where you took on Victor Chagas. I was lucky enough to have watched that explosive night at the Crystal Palace national sports centre cageside. Taking down Chagas is a destructive fashion via KO/TKO in the very first round. How did it feel to get yourself back to winning ways in the cage?
“Man, it felt amazing, I hadn’t fought in about 2 years before that due to the lockdowns etc. it woke up the hunger in me again.”
It’s not often fighters get to take centre stage in an arena-based in the capital. How does it feel to showcase your skills on the home ground of London?
“It felt amazing and even better being in South London because I’ve been living in South London for about 7 years now. The crowd and atmosphere are amazing, I love the buzz.”
On the 18th of December, you return to the place of that astonishing Victory back in October when you take on Dru Oakes. Have you done any research in regards to your opponent at FSC 20?
“Yeah, I’m really happy it’s at the same venue, very local and quite a big venue and I had a big win last time. I’ve done my research on Dru and I think it’s gonna be a good fight.”
No doubt you’ll be looking to make it a repeat result on your return to Crystal Palace. Without giving too much away what steps have you been taking to make it two out of two on the 18th?
“I’ve been working hard and trying to improve my game in general, expect it to be fast-paced and I’ll be looking for a finish if it’s there like always.”
Last but not least do you have a message for the fans that will be in attendance at the Crystal Palace national sports centre and anybody you’d like to shout out to?
“To the fans, I’d just like to say that you’re gonna have a great night and I will entertain you. Also wanna shout out to my family, friends, coaches and training partners that are always there for me. this next fight is for you.”
