Ihor Potieria will make his highly anticipated UFC debut March 5th, in an all Eastern European matchup with Light Heavyweight Nicolae Negumereanu at UFC 272, per promotional officials.

Fighting out of Kiev, Ukraine, Ihor ‘The Duelist’ Potieria holds a 20-2 professional record, per Tapology. The charismatic 25-year-old earned his promotional contract through Dana White’s Contender Series (September 28th 2021), following a sensational TKO victory over undefeated Polish fighter Łukasz Sudolski. The performance earned high praise from Dana White, who said of Potieria “He was a 3-to-1 dog in this fight, so, the oddsmakers were looking at this kid and thought that this kid was gonna get destroyed… He did the exact opposite, finished impressively… There’s no way I don’t bring this kid in”.

Nicolae Negumereanu, fighting out of Brașov, Romania, made his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 147 on March 16th 2019. After losing the debut bout to Saparbek Safarov via unanimous decision, it took Negumereanu over 2 years to make a second promotional appearance. It was worth the wait, however, as the Romanian returned to winning ways with a split decision victory over Aleksa Camur at UFC Vegas 29, June 19th 2021. In his most recent appearance, Negumereanu defeated Isaac Villanueva via TKO at UFC Vegas 41, taking his promotional record to 2-1, and his professional record to 11-1.
