In an all Brazilian affair, UFC debutant Karine Silva meets Poliana Botelho at the June 4th UFC event, per Ag. Fight.
Holding a 14-4 professional record, Karine ‘Killer’ Silva earned her UFC contract through Dana White’s Contender Series, October 26th 2021, following a guillotine choke submission of Qihui Yan. The performance attained high praise from Dana White, who said of Silva “She fought a powerful, durable, mean, nasty opponent tonight in Yan… [Silva’s] incredibly well rounded… I like everything I see with you kid, I am very excited to watch you fight in the UFC”. Fighting out of Curitiba, Paraná, the 28-year-old has won all 14 of her professional victories via stoppage (9 KO/TKO, 5 submissions), and enters the matchup riding a five fight win-streak.
After winning the Xtreme Fighting Championship Flyweight Championship in 2015, Poliana Botelho made her UFC debut October 7th 2017, at UFC 216. It was a sensational start for the Brazilian fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, as her debut unanimous decision victory over Pearl Gonzalez preceded a 33-second TKO stoppage of Syuri Kondo at UFC Fight Night 129. The 33-year-old has found unfavourable form since, amassing a 1-3 record from the last four fights. Botelho last fought May 1st 2021, at UFC Vegas 25, in a close, split decision loss to Luana Carolina. Holding an 8-4 professional record, and 3-3 promotional record, Botelho will look to snap a two fight skid in this matchup.
