3 Bouts Announced For BAMMA Fight Night London

BAMMA announces three bouts for BAMMA Fight Night London. Featherweight Bout David ‘Demolition Man’ Khalsa Vs. John ‘No Mercy’ Nicholls Featherweight Bout Cameron ‘Party’ Hardy Vs. Kingsley Crawford Welterweight Bout Jahreau ‘The Nightmare’ Shepherd Vs. Karl ‘Shifty’ Donaldson With a brand new multi-fight deal signed, David ‘Demolition Man’ Khalsa continues his quest to climb to the very top of the rankings and an eventual title shot in the Featherweight division. After starting out his pro career by dispatching two highly regarded prospects in Cian Cowley and Charlie Boy Howard, Khalsa then went on to lose his next two. With the losses now behind him and with additional training at Trojan Fighters, Khalsa is determined to get back to winning ways. John Nicholls is following a similar path to Khalsa, having followed victory in his first two bouts with two losses. ‘No Mercy’ is ready to exhibit just that in this bout at York Hall, as he puts ‘Demolition Man’ firmly in his sights. Cameron ‘Party’ Hardy makes his second appearance at BAMMA after two recent highlight reel KOs. Starting to make waves in the Featherweight division and with the team from Gym01 in his corner, Hardy goes into his bout with Kingsley Crawford full of confidence. Making his BAMMA debut at York Hall, Kingsley Crawford is another young up and coming talent that is talked about as a future title contender in many circles. Under the watchful eye of Lightweight title contender Steve ‘The Spartan’ O’Keeffe at Revolution Martial Arts, Crawford has a lot to prove and has the perfect stage on which to do it. Cameron Hardy undoubtedly presents Crawford with his toughest test to date, and all eyes will be on the rising star to see if he can overcome this challenge. Bouncing back from a debut loss with a stoppage of Marcin Zwyica at Bellator London, ‘The Nightmare’ is wasting no time as he looks to capitalise on his first pro win. Shepherd is renowned for fast explosive finishes and he’s promising another one against Donaldson on June 28th. Dog Clan fighter Karl ‘Shifty’ Donaldson is no stranger to battles. A veteran of Boxing and K1 bouts, Donaldson turned his aggressive go forward style to MMA. Donaldson has no doubts that he matches Shepherd in the power punching department, and this could be a matter who lands first as they come face to face at York Hall. Cage Warriors announce returns to London and Liverpool for 2018, with headline slot for Pimblett

CW President Graham Boylan confirms CW95: London on July 21st and CW96: Liverpool on September 1st, headlined by Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett.  Cage Warriors’ relentless run of events in 2018 is showing no signs of slowing. After a monumental event in Liverpool for CW90, followed by sold-out shows in Wales and London, Europe’s leading MMA promotion will hit Gothenburg, Sweden for CW93 and Antwerp, Belgium for CW94 in the coming months. And now Cage Warriors president Graham Boylan has announced even more for MMA fans to get excited about – CW95 at London’s Indigo at the O2 arena on July 21st, and a return to Liverpool’s Echo Arena for CW96 headlined by one of the most talked-about names in European MMA, Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett. Despite plenty calling for Pimblett to feature on the UFC’s newly-announced Liverpool date, ‘The Baddy’ remains determined to carry out his mission to reclaim a Cage Warriors world title by signing a new multi-fight deal with Boylan’s promotion. Whether or not his CW96 appearance will be a challenge for a title is yet to be confirmed, but one thing is for certain: Pimblett will return to the Echo Arena on September 1st at the top of the bill. But first, Cage Warriors will return to the capital for CW95, after staging their most ambitious card in recent years for the London crowd at CW92: Super Saturday. Since Cage Warriors’ return 2 years ago, London has provided some of the promotion’s most memorable scenes. CW95 is expected to sell out quickly, so fans are advised to make the most of Cage Warriors’ 20% off early bird offer when tickets go on sale on Friday 30th March. “London and Liverpool have turned into two seriously strong pillars for MMA in Europe,” says Boylan. “There’s some incredible talent coming out of both cities, and our events there get better every time. We’re always looking to do bigger things and take greater steps to give fans what they want – the best Cage Warriors experience we can possibly offer. These next two shows will do exactly that.”

Recap: UFC London

The UFC did not disappoint after putting on a fantastic show at the O2 Arena in London. This featured a main event between Fabricio Werdum and Alexander Volkov. The bout between the two heavyweight giants finished in the fourth round. However, the early stages of this fight was Werdum controlling a lot of the action with his Jiu-Jitsu. Volkov would continue to stay patient and floor Werdum with a thunderous uppercut. “Drago” later followed this up with a short amount strikes on the ground, referee Marc Goddard soon jumped in to stop this brutality. This secured Alexander his 30th career victory and 6th straight win inside the UFC Octagon. Breaking down the Main Event: In the first of the main event, we saw Werdum get an early takedown. Spending most of this round on top. Once this bout took a turn and Volkov got back to his feet Werdum took a tremendous knee to the face followed up by a right uppercut. This left Werdum with some early swelling which later slowed him down as the fight continued. Fabricio would still go on to win this round. Volkov would slowly begin to find his rhythm over the next couple of rounds. Werdum was unable to lock in a submission which could’ve been the key to winning this fight. The co-main event happened to be the rematch between Jan Blachowicz and Jimi Manuwa. Jimi was favoured going into this bout, Jan landed some flush shots that dropped Manuwa with roughly two minutes to go in the first round. Blachowicz soon put tremendous pressure on Manuwa but the “Poster Boy” was able to make it through the first round. In the second round Manuwa seemed to have recovered, he began pushing Blachowicz back and applying pressure. In the final 30 seconds, Manuwa landed with a big head kick which had Jan in trouble. With more time remaining Manuwa might have been able to earn a finish, but this went into the third round. This round saw more of the same, both men going back and forth landing big strikes. Manuwa and Blachowicz both looked very tired! Blachowicz ended up taking this rematch, defeating Manuwa by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27). In my opinion, Volkov should next face the winner of Curtis Blaydes and Alistair Overeem which will take place at UFC225. However, a fight with the current #1 ranked UFC Heavyweight Francis Ngannou would make sense. This fight would be excellent for both men and a good test for Volkov, Francis is purely a striker who possesses one-punch knockout power in both hands. With “The Predator” wanting to make a comeback this would be a perfect opportunity and a very interest fight to watch, Ngannou is coming off a title fight loss to current UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic at UFC220 on January 20, 2018. Weigh-ins: (Main event) Fabricio Werdum (249) Vs Alexander Volkov (246). Polaris 6: Jones vs Shields main event preview

Polaris returns with their first event in 2018 with an excellent card for London at the Indigo inside the O2. The main event features two of the best grapplers pound for pound in the world as Australian black belt Craig Jones will face-off against former Strikeforce & Elite XC champion Jake Shields. For fans of MMA, most likely the name Jake Shields rings a bell. While this is not an MMA match, Shields has a wealth of martial arts experience inside and out of a cage. Shields is a black belt himself under Cesar Gracie and had a lot of freestyle wrestling experience before training in jiu-jitsu as well as other martial arts. Both he and his opponent have competed for a lot of matches at Welterweight but this match will be for the Polaris Middleweight title. Shields is a former Middleweight MMA champion for Strikeforce and would be the bigger man in the match-up. Shields styles himself as an “American Jiu-Jitsu” practitioner and being on top is where the American is at his best. His wrestling will be what he needs to lean on. Jones is very good in the 50/50 position and has shown no problem submitting bigger guys. Getting past his legs and avoid leg locks to me, will be how Shields can win. The X-factor for Shields will be his conditioning. He has done many 25 minute fights in MMA so just grappling for 15 minutes should be no problem for him. His opponent in Craig Jones is coming off an impressive performance at the EBI 14 tournament in December of 2017. Even though he was the runner-up in that tournament, Jones rolled his way into the finals with three very quick finishes. Even though the finishes were quick, adding in the fact he was the smaller man in every fight for this absolute weight tournament makes it even more impressive. He feels short in the finals against the ADCC & multiple EBI winner Gordan Ryan. Jones came as close as anyone has come to beating ‘The King’ in a grappling match, coming within inches of submitting Ryan by an armbar in overtime. Jones is one the best leg-lockers in the world and as I said earlier, is very skilled in the 50/50 position and most likely will drop down right to his butt to start his game and the match. If he can keep Shields in front of him and not let him pass the guard, Jones will have great chance to win this match. Polaris 6 will take place on Saturday, February 17th at 7 pm GMT and will stream live on UFC Fightpass. The event will be held at the Indigo at the O2 in London, England. Overall 12 matches will take place and features gi and no-gi matches.

UFC London Main Event Confirmed as Werdum vs Volkov

Just one day before tickets go on general sale, we have a main event confirmed for UFC London. The headline bout will see veteran heavyweight contender Fabricio Werdum face off with number 7 ranked heavyweight Alexander Volkov. UFC Europe annouced the news on their Twitter feed this afternoon. Your heavyweight #UFCLondon main event!!🇧🇷 @FabricioWerdum vs. @AlexDragoVolkov 🇷🇺 🎟 https://t.co/NFQ6n2IJTb🎟 https://t.co/j3rWpJlaOI pic.twitter.com/K4JzQHP6BP — UFC Europe (@UFCEurope) February 1, 2018 Werdum will likely be hoping that a victory over Volkov will maintain his momentum toward the title shot he believes he deserves. His last two fights have ended with his hand raised as the winner with a quick submission victory over last second stand in Walt Harris and a decision win over Marcin Tybura. While there is no denying that toppling the 6’7″ Volkov would be an impressive feat, Werdum is still without a win against anyone currently in the top 5 since defeating Cain Velasquez in 2015. Volkov is riding a 5 fight winning streak with victories over Stefan Struve and Roy Nelson in his last two fights. Should he emerge victorious against Werdum, it would catapult him into the top 5 and certainly put him in a position for a shot at the belt in the very near future. The full line up for UFC London is as follows; Fabricio Werdum vs. Alexander Volkov Jimi Manuwa vs. Jan Blachowicz Leon Edwards vs. Peter Sobotta Mark Godbeer vs. Dmitriy Sosnovskiy Paul Craig vs. Magomed Ankalaev Alex Reyes vs. Nasrat Haqparast Rustam Khabilov vs. Kajan Johnson John Phillips vs. Charles Byrd Jack Marshman vs. Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos Danny Roberts vs. Oliver Enkamp Danny Henry vs. Hakeem Dawodu
