On October 6, The UFC will return to sin city with the biggest card in the promotion’s history with UFC 229. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will meet a scrappy southerner whose mastery at rising to the challenge when the stakes are at their highest makes him a darkhorse contender at 155 pounds. A professional since February 2012 and representing The MMA Lab under the direction of head coach John Crouch and Shield Systems, Scott Holtzman holds an 11-2 record in 13 career bouts as a professional comprised of six decisions, three knockouts and two submissions. Prior to making his UFC debut in 2015, Holtzman fought for XFC.
In his MMA debut at XFC 16 High Stakes, he submitted Brandon Demastes via rear naked choke in the second round. Holtzman defeated his next two opponents via TKO in Chris Coggins and Matt Metts. Then at XFC 22 Crossing the Line, he defeated Jason Hicks via unanimous decision. At XFC 24 Collision Course Holtzman defeated John Mahlow via TKO in round two. He defeated his next two opponents via decision in George Sheppard and Roger Carroll.
In his debut outing with the UFC at UFN 73, Holtzman tapped out Anthony Christodulou in round three via rear naked choke. At UFN 91 he defeated Cody Phister via unanimous decision. For his next appearance with the UFC at UFN 108, Holtzman defeated Michael McBride via unanimous decision. In his next UFC outing at UFN 123, he defeated Darrell Horcher via unanimous decision to earn back to back victories with the UFC. At UFC 229 on October 6, Holtzman will face Brazil’s Alan Patrick in a lightweight bout that will be shown live on Fox Sports 1. Good luck Scott!
