Across the Pond Profile: Invicta FC flyweight champion Miranda Maverick

A female fighter can go from being at the back of the line to being the alpha female in the space of a single night thanks to the Phoenix rising format in Invicta Fighting Championships. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will be introduced to a lethal tigress ready to show Invicta FC why she is, in fact, the jungle’s top cat. A professional since November 2016 and representing The House of Muay Thai, Miranda Maverick owns an 8-2 record in 10 career bouts as a professional comprised of six submissions and two decisions. Maverick is the current Invicta FC flyweight champion and has spent the bulk of her professional tenure with the promotion.

In her MMA debut at Invicta FC 20, she submitted Samantha Diaz via rear-naked choke in the first round. Maverick also tapped out Kalyn Schwartz in round one via armbar at Invicta FC 22. Then at Invicta FC 24, she faced Gabby Romero and managed to defeat her via unanimous decision. At Invicta FC 31 Maverick submitted Victoria Leonardo in the first round via armbar. She also managed to tap out Heather Walker Leahy in the first round at Shogun Fights 22.

In the opening round of the flyweight tournament at Phoenix Rising 2, Maverick faced Leonardo for the second time and went on to defeat her via unanimous decision. For her next contest of the tournament, she faced Shawna Young and managed to submit her in the first round via rear-naked choke. In the finals of the event, Maverick rematched a familiar foe in DeAnna Bennett and went on to tap her out via neck crank in the third round to claim the Invicta FC flyweight title. The victory also earned Maverick the sixth submission win of her professional career. With six of her eight wins ending with a tapout, this tiger is showing the future stars of tomorrow just how loud her roar can truly get!
