Across the Pond Profile: Cage Warriors fighter George Smith

Many a tapout artisan has raised their profile as a mixed martial artist whilst putting on the trademark yellow gloves in Cage Warriors. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will meet an English anaconda whose squeeze of suffocation has locked the middleweight ranks at Cage Warriors in a stranglehold with the pressure of a tightening vice. A professional mixed martial artist since July 2018 and representing SBG Manchester under Matt Inman, George Smith holds a 5-1 professional record in six MMA bouts comprised of three submissions, one knockout and one decision. Smith is currently 2-0 under the banner of Cage Warriors and has managed to secure a finish in four out of his five victories. He has also fought for MTK MMA and Almighty Fighting Championship. The bulk of Smith’s wins as a pro-MMA fighter thus far have lasted less than a full round and has only seen the judge’s once in his tenure so far.

He defeated Ryan Hewston via TKO in the first round at Almighty Fighting Championship 11. Smith submitted Henrik Lie in round number one via brabo choke at Almighty Fighting Championship 13. He also tapped out Marcin Prostko via anaconda choke in the first round at MTK MMA. Then in his debut fight for Cage Warriors at Cage Warriors 109, Smith took on Jenaid Ebanks and defeated him via unanimous decision to pick up his first and only decision win as a professional so far.

For his second outing with Cage Warriors at Cage Warriors 112 in the promotion’s debut show in Manchester, he faced Poland’s Lucas Marcinowski and tapped him out via armbar in the first round. The win earned Smith the third submission victory of his professional career along with back to back wins in Cage Warriors. Smith is not one to loosen his grip if his foes make an error in judgment!
