Alexis Davis Announces Pregnancy

Big news to announce today a slight delay in my return to the octagon! I planned on spending as much time back home as possible to help with my niece anyways. But we are over joyed by this news and should be expecting our new arrival early 2016!! ???? And planned to back in the Octagon by the end of the year! @flaviomeierbjj

It seems congratulations are in order for UFC bantamweight contender Alexis Davis as she announced on Tuesday via her Instagram (above) that she is pregnant and will not return to the Octagon until late 2016.

Davis (17-6) last fought in one of her biggest wins to date, scoring a second-round submission over Sarah Kaufman back in April at UFC 186 and has won 6 of her 7 previous fights. That loss coming against Bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey.

Davis earns the distinction of becoming the first female UFC fighter to delay her career due to pregnancy since the promotion added women in 2013.
