December 2nd, Little Caesars Arena, Detroit, UFC 218 will take place. As main cards go, this one is faultless, not one match-up feels predictable. And with a solid undercard to compliment it, this one is going to be captivating from start to finish.

The main event sees newly crowned Featherweight Champion Max Holloway make his first defence in a rematch against former featherweight king Jose Aldo. Aldo stepped in to replace Frankie Edgar less than a month before the fight due to Edgar unfortunately suffering an injury. After starting slow in the last fight Holloway ended up dominating Aldo and finishing him via TKO in the third. It will be interesting to see how both men choose to fight this time around and what they’ve learned from the last meeting. I, for one, am not subscribing to the notion that this will be a walkover for Holloway, and am looking forward to a highly competitive main event.

The card also features a heavyweight clash between Alistair Overeem and Francis Ngannou that has title contention written all over it. Overeem has won six of his last seven, his only loss coming from Stipe Miocic in a short back and forth championship bout where he managed to drop the champion before eventually being knocked out. Ngannou is one of the most daunting fights in the division, the ferocious heavyweight who owns a 10-1 record has finished every professional win of his career inside two rounds. Coming off back to back Performance of the Night bonuses UFC 218 could see the changing of the guard in the heavyweight division.

If I could only watch one fight from this card, I would choose Eddie Alvarez vs. Justin Gaethje. The unofficial “UFC‘s Most Violent Man” title will be on the line in a fight that sees undefeated Justin Gaethje make his second UFC appearance. His debut more than lived up to the hype in an absolute war and Fight of the Year contender where he beat Michael Johnson via TKO in the second. Both men promise to leave everything in there and give the fans a firefight to remember. Keep the edge of your seat warm for this one.
