It appears that we are about to lose the UFC 222 main event as Max Holloway has sustained an injury and is expected to be pulled from the card.
ESPNs Brett Okamoto reports that reigning UFC featherweight champ Holloway has picked up an injury which is likely to force him from the card on 3rd March. Holloway had been scheduled to defend his title against Frankie Edgar in what would be the second attempt to bring the two of them together in the octagon. The two fighters were originally set to meet in Detroit last December with Edgar pulling out due to injury on that occasion.
Some bad news regarding UFC 222. May want to sit down for this one. https://t.co/Zrz6cHNHtq

While there has been no official word from the UFC thus far, they are expected to make an announcement in the near future. According to the report, the UFC are exploring alternative main event options for the PPV event.
UPDATES
There are two new fights rumoured to be close to being agreed. The first would see Frankie Edgar take on Brian Ortega in what would amount to a featherweight number 1 contender fight. The second rumored fight would see Bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw take on former champion Cody Garbrandt for the second time. Should this fight happen, it would become the main event for UFC 222.
The only sticking point on TJ vs Cody 2 seems to be TJ and his camp insisting that they want to fight flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson next. Per Ariel Helwani, TJ’s coach Duane Ludwig has said that Cody needs to earn his shot and they want DJ next.
Just spoke to @TJDillashaw’s head coach @DUANEBANGCOM on the possibility of Dillashaw vs. Garbrandt 2 happening in March. His response: “We want DJ. Cody needs to earn a rematch first."
