Brock Lesnar Close To UFC Return In 2018

UFC president, Dana White, has hinted that former UFC heavyweight champion, Brock Lesnar, could return to the octagon in 2018.

Lesnar, who is currently signed to the WWE, has not fought since UFC 200 in 2016 when he defeated Mark Hunt before subsequently failing a drugs test meaning he received a two-year suspension from USADA.

Lesnar was previously allowed to fight for the UFC despite being under contract with the WWE. However, his current deal is nearing expiration which has fuelled rumours of a return to the cage.

White recently posted an image on Instagram alongside the former champion hinting that discussions have already begun over Lesnar’s future in the sport.

A post shared by Dana White (@danawhite) on Speaking to the Happy Hours radio show on SiriusXM Nascar, White said the odds of Lesnar competing in 2018 were ‘very, very, very good.’

The UFC is in desperate need of stars with Conor McGregor’s future uncertain and Jon Jones still facing sanctions from USADA, the return of Lesnar would be a welcome boost to the promotion.

Lesnar would need to enter the USADA drug testing pool prior to any fight and he still faces at least six months out due to his ban following UFC 200.

His comeback could coincide with the timeline of Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic who will fight for the heavyweight championship at UFC 226.
