The carpenter picks his tools back up for UFC 225

With UFC 225 fast approaching, we look forward to some of the company’s finest due to take centre stage in the octagon.

With that in mind, I’m sure we all have a fight we’re looking forward to, for most I’d say the second meeting between Robert Whittaker (20-4-0) and Yoel Romero (13-2-0).

But for me personally, it’s the return of cardio king Clay Guida (34-14-0). Last we saw the carpenter was UFC fight night 112, with an impressive KO/TKO victory over Joe Lauzon (27-16-0) back in June 2017.

With overpowering ground and pound that just seemed too much for Lauzon. Guida has been very outspoken on social media of late, calling out some of UFC‘s top ten lightweights. And after a change in opponents last minute, he will come toe to toe with Charles Oliveira (22-8-0) at UFC 225 on the 9th of June.

This will be his 3rd fight after returning to lightweight and if he gets the W ” I’m 1 million percent sure he will so put a bet on lol”

It’ll be a hat-trick of wins since a 2 fight losing streak at 145 lb back in 2016. Guida has shown that age is just a number at 35 and now his 12th year in the UFC he has more than proved that fact.

“As long as I’m having fun and I feel like I’m improving, there’s always going to be those bumps in the road,” Guida told reporters after the FS2-televised lightweight scrap at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Okla.

“I never look at it as ‘It’s a young man’s game,’ because I’m still young. I’m in my mid-30’s. The scientists do studies, they say the male is in their peak at in the mid-30’s still.” he told MMAJunkie.

With the colossal size of the 155 lb division these days the carpenter will need every tool in his inventory to scale the vast number of ranked above him.

3 wins out of 3 could turn dana’s eye and start recognising that clay is here to stay. Don’t forget to check your local listing and tune in to what I’m sure is going to be a mixed martial arts masterpiece of a night in Chicago on the 9/6/18.
