Prior to making her debut with the UFC in 2015, Waterson competed with various promotions including Invicta Fighting Championships. She has garnered a single Performance of the Night bonus during her tenure with the UFC.

In her MMA debut at Ring of Fire 28 Evolution, she defeated Andrea Miller via unanimous decision. Then at ROF 30 Domination Waterson tapped out Jamie Cook in the first round via armbar. She defeated her next four foes that included wins over Karina Taylor and Tyra Parker. Waterson defeated her next three opponents that saw wins over Diana Rael and Masako Yoshida. In her debut outing with Invicta Fighting Championships at Invicta FC 3, she defeated Lacey Schuckman via split decision. For the headliner of Invicta FC 5, Waterson submitted Jessica Penne via armbar in the fourth round. She defeated Japan’s Yasuko Tamada via TKO in round three in the main event of Invicta FC 8.

In her debut appearance with the UFC at The Ultimate Fighter season 21 finale, Waterson tapped out Angela Magana via rear naked choke in round three to earn her first Performance of the Night bonus. For the headliner of UFC on Fox 22, she submitted Paige VanZant in the first round via rear naked choke. In her next appearance with the UFC at UFC on Fox 29, Waterson defeated Courtney Casey via split decision. She also defeated The Ultimate Fighter season 20 alumni Felice Herrig via unanimous decision at UFC 229. Waterson defeated Poland’s Karolina Kowalkiewicz via unanimous decision at UFC on ESPN 2 to secure the fifth decision victory of her profession.
