As we all know on UFC London takes place on March 16th. Woodley vs Edwards has the potential to be an all-time classic. So today I’m going to give my own personal insight and at the end give my final prediction.
First, we’ll talk about the guy who will seem to have the home-field advantage Leon ‘Rocky’ Edwards. Leon has only had two losses in the UFC one against Claudio Silva and the other against the current UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman. So with Edwards’ UFC record at twelve fights with ten wins and two losses his record doesn’t show how talented a fighter he is yes he has won 10 fights in the UFC but the two losses kind of show something which isn’t the case.
Edwards has the abilities to be an all-time great in the UFC with the capabilities to knock you out and submit you and also grind you down to a decision victory. Edwards record shows he has fought some of the best the UFC has had to offer including Rafael Dos Anjos, Donald Cerrone and Gunnar Nelson defeating all three of them via decision.
Now we’ll talk about the former UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley. People seem to be forgetting what a great fighter Woodley was as champion and still is. After being dominated by Kamaru Usman in his last fight this is the perfect opportunity and reason for Woodley to get in there and make a statement to the other welterweights.
Woodley was the champion for 945 days and not many people can say they done that. After the Usman fight, people seem to be counting Woodley out but they don’t seem to be looking at his past fights. Cast your mind back to 2016 where Woodley brutally knocked out Robbie Lawler to become champion. Since his title win, he has defeated great fighters such as Darren Till and Stephen Thompson. Like Edwards Woodley can knock you out, submit you and grind a decision victory.
So after looking at both fighters, there’s no doubt that this should be a classic. But I predict that Tyron will knock Leon out in the 3rd round. Let us wait and see how this fight plays out.
