Across the Pond profile: UFC fighter Spike Carlyle

Whenever a newcomer enters the ranks of the UFC, a memorable first impression can start a domino effect. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will meet an alpha hound ready to turn himself loose and bear his blood-red fangs of fear in the UFC pool at featherweight. A professional mixed martial artist since September 2017 and representing The Training Lab, Spike Carlyle owns a 9-1 professional record in 10 bouts comprised of five knockouts, three submissions, and one decision. Prior to his UFC debut in February 2020 at UFC On ESPN Plus 27, Carlyle fought for several promotions including Legacy Fighting Alliance and has finished eight of his nine victories so far in his career as a pro-MMA fighter with just one of those wins receiving the full three-round treatment. The bulk of Carlyle’s pro wins have come inside of the first round.

In his MMA debut at California Cage Wars, he submitted Callum Highland in the first round via armbar. Carlyle also defeated Rhageem Wells and Raymell Davis. Then at California Cage Wars 4, he tapped out Joseph Rodriguez via rear-naked choke in the first round. Carlyle also submitted Brian del Rosario in round two via rear-naked choke. He defeated Fernando Padilla via unanimous decision to pick up his first and only decision win as a professional. In his lone appearance with Legacy Fighting Alliance at LFA 74 Carlyle knocked out Matthew Colquhoun in the first round. He also knocked out Jean-Paul Lebosnoyani in round one.

For his debut fight in the UFC at UFC On ESPN Plus 27, Carlyle took on Aalon Cruz and defeated him via TKO in the first round, The win earned Carlyle the fifth knockout victory of his professional career along with win number one in the UFC. With eight finishes in nine overall outings, this alpha dog can smell fear from miles away!
