Tony Ferguson calls out Michael Chandler

It seems ‘El Cucuy’ has had a change of heart recently and has decided to call out Michael Chandler in an end-of-the-year fight. Ferguson took to social media on Friday to call his shot.

“Lets Close out 2020 in Style. Michael Chandler you Putz, Ya Asked For It” Ferguson wrote on Instagram.

Micahel Chandler has voiced his opinion when it comes to his position in the lightweight division, citing that he deserves a top 5 opponent. Fans seem to be 50/50 regarding Chandler as of who he should fight first. Some believe he shouldn’t fight a top 5 just yet, opting for a fight with Dan Hooker as his debut. Others side with him and a possible fight with Ferguson would be very intriguing.

Ferguson last fought at UFC 249 in May, where he lost to Justin Gaethje via fifth-round TKO. Before the fight, Ferguson was riding a 12-fight win streak and many believe due to the circumstances, and rescheduling around that fight, Ferguson is still considered a top contender.

Chandler is yet to make his debut in the UFC. He signed with the organisation in September and was brought to Fight Island as a back up for the Nurmaomedov vs Gaethje fight. Of course, no back up was needed and Nurmagomedov retired from fighting.

With that, the lightweight division is in limbo right now, and many think Khabib will return for 30-0. If that is not the case then the division is wide open and a whole lot of exciting fights can be made, starting with Ferguson vs Chandler in December then McGregor vs Poirier on January 23rd.

How do you see a possible matchup between these fighters going? Let us know in the comments.
