Across The Pond Profile: UFC fighter Drako Rodriguez

For fighters entering the ranks of the UFC for the first time, navigating the rough waters of adversity can chart smooth sailing ahead. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will meet a hawk of blood. ready to circle the sky as he gets set for takeoff in the UFC at UFC On ESPN Plus on February 20 from the UFC Apex on ESPN Plus. A professional mixed martial artist since October 2017 and representing Red’s Boxing Club, Drako Rodriguez owns a 7-1 record through eight professional MMA bouts comprised of four submissions, two knockouts, and one decision. Rodriguez secured his contract from the UFC on week six during season four of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series in 2020 and has finished six out of his seven victories during his career as a pro-MMA fighter thus far with five first-round finishes in those six wins. He has only gone to the scorecards once during his time in the professional ranks. Rodriguez has also fought for King of the Cage.

In his MMA debut at KOTC Next Level, he submitted Derek Perez in the first round. Rodriguez defeated his next three foes that included wins over Eliott Conn and Nathan Trepagnier. Then at KOTC Hunting Season, he tapped out Shane Moffitt in round one via armbar. Rodriguez defeated Fard Muhamad via unanimous decision at KOTC Showtime 2 to earn his first decision win as a professional.

At DWTNCS week six of season four, he submitted Leomana Martinez in the first round via triangle choke. The victory earned Rodriguez the fourth submission win of his professional career. He also picked up a contract from the UFC in the process. For his UFC debut at UFC On ESPN Plus 43 on February 20, he will take on Canada’s Aiemann Zahabi in a battle at bantamweight.
