Valentina Shevchenko TKO’s Jessica Andrade

And Still. Valentina ‘Bullet’ Shevchenko remains the undisputed UFC flyweight champion, knocking out arguably, on paper at least, the sternest challenge to her throne in the form of former strawweight best, Jessica Andrade.

The two fighters met in a women’s flyweight bout on Saturday night (April 24, 2021) at the UFC 261 pay-per-view event from Jacksonville, Florida at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena.
Andrade as riding a four-fight win streak with victories over Claudia Gadelha, Tecia Torres, Karolina Kowalkiewicz, and Rose before losing her previous bouts when she dropped the women’s strawweight title to Weili Zhang at UFC Shenzhen from the Shenzhen Universiade Sports Centre in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China. She then dropped a decision loss in a rematch against Rose Namajunas at UFC 251. She rebounded with a TKO win over Katlyn Chookagian in October 2020.

The second round saw a quick body lock takedown for Shevchenko. Andrade was getting rag-dolled and out-classed everywhere. Andrade tried her best to lift the champion to get a slam, but Valentina denied all of her advances and then put Jessica on her back. Shevchenko locked up a mounted crucifix and started to punch and elbow away at the face of the challenger until the referee said to stop.
