After a successful debut for the PFL, Claressa Shields makes her return in MMA on August 27 at the Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida.

An opponent has yet to be named, but there is much anticipation to see what Shields can do after stopping her previous opponent on June 10th. While details about the fight and what she plans to do for camp are still fresh we can expect Shields to resume her MMA training at Camp Jackson-Wink in Albuquerque New Mexico.

In her debut, we saw Claressa be taken down and controlled for the first 2 rounds of her fight, she was being handled in a way that she had never felt especially in her undefeated boxing career. Her standup was on point as she clearly had no ring rust in that department, but the ground game is where most of her opponents will look to attack as she was frequently taken down and at times looked like a fish out of water.

She has shown the patience, dedication and overall will to learn a new sport that she had never experienced before. Thankfully she is surrounded by a camp with some of the worlds best coaches and teammates that a fighter could ask for. She impressed many with her skills and how they translate to MMA to include PFL president and K1 legend who was quoted “I’m impressed, there’s still a lot to learn, but if she was going to win or lose she was going to give it a fight”.
