Interview with UFC heavyweight Chris Barnett ahead of he’s upcoming bout at UFC 268

Chris “BeastBoy” Barnett is an American professional Mixed Martial Artist, currently competing in the Heavyweight Division of the UFC. A professional competitor since 2009, he has competed for Xtream Fighting Championship, World Cagefighting Championship, Island Fights, Inoki Bom-Ba-Ye, RIZIN FF, RJJ, Road FC, XFN and UAE Warriors.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for taking the time to speak to me again Chris and congratulate you on your recent fight announcement with the UFC.

November 6th at UFC 268, you take on Gian Villante. A gifted wrestling expert and UFC veteran in his own right. Without giving too much away, how are you adjusting your training in regards to taking on his fighting style at the famous Madison Square Gardens?

“I’ve never met Gian but I feel like I’m fighting a friend lol. Now, I’m very competitive with my friends, so I have to outdo him lol, but I feel really good already on weight (going to come in under 260 this time) and I hit my old wrestling coach up already Coach Yauck and I’m adding some new things in the mix and man it’s MSG so I have to show out.”

This being your second appearance for the new home of your career, no doubt you will be looking to impress. Last we spoke was back in August in regards to your first appearance for the UFC, at UFC Fight Night against Ben Rothwell. With a lot more time to prepare for this one in comparison to your previous 8 days notice against Rothwell, how confident are you for the W?

“You said it right there, I had a week and one day to get ready for a guy who had 3 fights turned down and was in camp basically for 3 months cause he had like 3 fights pulled from him. I’ve never gassed like that before in all my fights even at 350lbs, cardio has always been my thing. Go watch I’m breakdancing after 3, 5 min rounds. So now you give me time to get ready for the biggest fight of my life on the biggest stage maaaaaaaannnnnnnnn I can’t wait.”

Taking a fight on short notice is always a risk, fighters do not always get to show their full potential in comparison to getting a full fight camp before the event. And if you’ve watched Chris in the past, you will know that the fighter we saw back in May was not the same warrior in there. Now excited with a full fight camp, I am sure this one will show the UFC fans exactly what Chris can do in there.

Your inclusion at 268 will have fight fans counting down the days until the stacked fight card in the city that never sleeps, the Heavyweight Division has always been a fan favourite. Are there any matches that have been confirmed so far that you look forward to witnessing at 268?

“To be honest, I’m glad I’m early on the card so I can watch all these fights, this card is stacked. I’m super excited to be a part of it.”

Last but not least do you have a message for the fans that will be in attendance on November 9th and anybody you’d like to give a shout out to?

“Same as before, I’d like to thank Keystone Focus, Chill Caw-Fee Thicc Boy Fight Club, Bitch Slap, FAT BOY Fight Clothing and Fat Ninja. A lot of fat and big lol.”
