In the pipeline: Valentina Shevchenko vs Taila Santos

Valentina Shevchenko is set for a seventh UFC Flyweight Championship defence, as a matchup with Taila Santos is targeted for UFC 275, June 11th, per MMA Fighting.

With a unanimous decision victory over Joanna Jędrzejczyk at UFC 231, reigning UFC Flyweight champion Valentina ’Bullet’ Shevchenko secured the vacant UFC Flyweight Championship. Thereafter, the 33-year-old has defended the Flyweight Championship six times, with victories over Jessica Eye, Liz Carmouche, Katlyn Chookagian, Jennifer Maia, Jéssica Andrade, and Lauren Murphy; four of those defences ended via KO/TKO stoppage (Eye, Chookagian, Andrade, and Murphy). Holding a 22-3 professional record, Shevchenko enters UFC 275 riding an eight fight win-streak, and is yet to be finished in the UFC.

Taila Santos earned a deserved UFC contract through Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series Brazil, August 11th 2018, following a unanimous decision victory over Estefani Almeida. Despite losing her promotional debut to Mara Romero Borella via split decision at UFC Fight Night 144, the 28-year-old has since amassed a four fight win-streak, with victories over Molly McCann, Gillian Robertson, Roxanne Modafferi, and Joanne Wood. The Brazilian holds a 19-1 professional record that includes 13 stoppages (10 KO/TKO, 3 submissions); however, Santos has only finished one opponent in the octagon (Joanne Wood, via submission). Santos enters UFC 275 yet to be finished as a professional.
