Chris Sterling – “I’m a dangerous fight for anyone”

Chris ‘The Myth’ Sterling 1-1-0 is an English professional Mixed Martial Artist currently competing in the Welterweight division, representing Impact Gym. He has competed for Cage Warriors, UKFC and is due to make his debut for Almighty Fighting Championship on August 20th.

I’d like to start things off by thanking you for taking the time to speak to me today Chris, and also to congratulate you on your upcoming inclusion to the Almighty Fighting Championship 28 card.

I hope training camp at Impact has been going well in the build-up to your scheduled return to the cage?

“Training has been going great, I’m constantly levelling up and I feel I’m a different animal heading into this fight.”

Your amateur outings as well as your walks since joining the professional scene back in 2019, have seen you display your proverbial tools for war over many of the top cards across the country.

It was only a matter of time before we saw you be a part of one of the UK’s hottest regional shows in Ray Thompson’s phenomenal organisation. What was going through your mind when receiving the call, was this an opportunity you just couldn’t refuse?

“I’m just happy to be fighting again. Almighty is a great show so that’s a bonus, which will lead to a great night next Saturday.”

Many exceptional athletes such as yourself have graced the Almighty cage over the years and made it the home of their fighting career. If successful on September 20th, will you be leaning towards the possibility of pushing yourself up their rankings?

“I’m looking to be very active, I’m a dangerous fight for anyone. so I look forward to proving myself and working my way up the ranks and taking all the belts.”

For the many that are set to be in attendance in just over a week, what can the crowd of Almighty come to expect when you make your debut in Barnsley?

“The crowd can expect violence and me looking for the finish at all times.”

You are set to take on HAMMA’s Beau Gavin, who brings an exceptional amateur record and the same desire as yourself to shine in the professional scene. Credit to the match-making, this is definitely going to be a bout to look out for.

What do you make of Beau in the build-up to your scheduled meeting, have you had the opportunity to do anything in the way of research on the HAMMA standout?

“I don’t know much about him but my coaches do, so they’ve been working on game plans and areas we can exploit. Respect for taking the fight but that’s all.”

Without giving too much away what steps have you been taking to make sure you walk out with your arm raised and another W on your Mixed Martial Arts record?

“I train all day with beasts in multiple martial arts disciplines and I’m always improving. I feel I’m a dangerous outing for anyone right now.”

I wish you all the best for next Saturday Cris and I look forward to witnessing you out there.

Last but not least do you have a message for the fans that will be in attendance and anybody you’d like to give a shout-out to?

“The fans know I’m never in a boring fight and I’m always looking to bring the action, so enjoy. I’d like to shout out Impact Gym which is my HQ for MMA. Grapple Machine who are in charge of my S&C and Matt Apex Nutrition who sorts out my nutrition and weight cuts.”
