Contender Series Tidbits: Season 6 Week 8

Season 6 of Dana White’s Contender Series continues into its eighth week.

September 13th welcomes a further five bouts to the UFC Apex.

Here is a tidbits snapshot for each of the Week 8 participants to whet the palate.

Farid Basharat (Afghanistan) v Allan Begosso (Brazil)

Farid Basharat – After having his Week 1 Contender Series matchup cancelled (due to his opponent Willian Souza drastically missing weight), Farid Basharat returns in Week 8 with a new opponent; Allan Begosso. Boasting an 8-0 professional record that includes 5 Rear-Naked Choke submissions, “Ferocious” most recently fought March 12th, at War of Titans 2, where he submitted Venezuelan Raul Guzmán.

Allan Begosso – Fighting out of Team Alpha Male in Sacramento, Allan Begosso boasts a 7-1-1 professional record. “Mini” has won six of his seven professional victories via first-round stoppage (3 KO/TKO, 3 submissions); his only professional loss was via unanimous decision to 9-0 Richard Palencia, at LFA 119.

Ikram Aliskerov (Russia) v Mário Sousa (Brazil)

Ikram Aliskerov – Holding notable victories over UFC alumnus Nah-Shon Burrell, and current UFC athlete Denis Tiuliulin, Ikram Aliskerov boasts a 12-1 professional record. Aliskerov’s sole professional loss is to current UFC athlete Khamzat Chimaev; in the build up to UFC 273, Chimaev said of Aliskerov “I think one guy I met in BRAVE, Ikram Aliskerov, he has to be in the UFC. That guy’s good… That guy’s really good”.

Mário Sousa – A Max Fight Welterweight Champion, 14-2 Mário Sousa returns for a third consecutive Contender Series season. “Coração Valente” defeated Mariusz Ksiazkiewicz in Season 4, but fell short of a contract; Sousa then lost to Chidi Njokuani on his Season 5 return.

Malik Lewis (USA) v Trevor Peek (USA)

Malik Lewis – A Peak Fighting Lightweight Champion, Malik “Hard Knock” Lewis is undefeated as both an amateur (7-0) and a professional (5-0); all five professional bouts ended via stoppage (4 KO/TKO, 1 submission). The combined record of those five opponents? 22-13.

Trevor Peek – With a professional record of 6-0 (1 NC), Trevor Peek has captured the Welterweight Championship for both Alabama Fighting Championship, and Aries Fight Series. All bar one of Peek’s six professional victories have ended via first-round KO/TKO.

Bruna Brasil (Brazil) v Marnic Mann (USA)

Bruna Brasil – At one stage of her professional career, Bruna Brasil held a 1-2-1 professional record. Since then, she is undefeated, having amassed a six-fight win-streak. Brasil most recently fought at LFA 132; despite entering the bout a slight underdog, she defeated 5-0 Yasmin Castanho via unanimous decision.

Marnic Mann – A Fusion Fight League Strawweight Champion, Marnic Mann holds a 5-0 professional record. At LFA 116, “The Sawed-Off Savage” submitted 4-1 Pauline Macias – a Contender Series 2020 alumnus – via triangle choke.

Daniel Marcos (Peru) v Brandon Lewis (USA)

Daniel Marcos – Ten of Daniel Marcos’ twelve professional bouts have been with Peruvian-promotion 300 Sparta. The combined record of those ten 300 Sparta opponents? 52-19. “Soncora” – a 300 Sparta Bantamweight Champion – is unbeaten both as a professional (12-0) and an amateur (6-0).

Brandon Lewis – Across a combined eight amateur, and seven professional bouts, Brandon Lewis has never been finished; his two losses were both via unanimous decision. One of those losses – his only professional loss – was against an undefeated Mo Miller on Contender Series in 2021. “Let’s Go” holds six professional victories against competition with a combined record of 19-6.
