Madars Fleminas – “Feeling good and ready to go”

Cage Warriors returns to the BEC Arena on April 15th, and what a night it is set to be. Many exceptional warriors will take centre stage in Manchester for a night of barn burners and violence.

Returning to don the famous yellow gloves once again will be Madars Fleminas, who looks to make his return a night to remember for his fans.

I caught up with the ‘Latvian Express’ today, before the evening’s violent festivities begin.

Madars ‘Latvain Express’ Fleminas (10-4-0) is a Latvian professional Mixed Martial Artist currently competing in the Welterweight Division, representing Hard Work MMA. A professional competitor since 2017, he has competed for Caged Steel, World Combat Fighting Championship and Cage Warriors.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for taking the time to speak with me again today Madars, and also to congratulate you on your upcoming inclusion to the CW 152 Manchester card.

“Always a pleasure to talk with you, my man, and thank you. It’s been a long time, so I can’t wait to walk out in Manchester.”

I’ve been looking forward to your return, always an entertaining fighter.

I hope preparations have been going well as you prepare to once again take the walk to the CW cage?

“Yeah, basically been in camp as soon as my last fight finished. I took a bit of family time around Christmas, but because I have a couple guys in the gym who are always fighting, I need to be in shape all year round. It’s been great, feeling good and ready to go.”

I’ve noticed how busy you are around the MMA circuit, true dedication to your team, and no better way to keep in shape and ready for the call from Cage Warriors.

I saw you grabbed some time to get some training with current CW Lightweight Champion George Hardwick, that must have been a great experience? Especially as you’re both training for the same card?

“Yeah, it was  good, George is one of the good guys in UK mma. no egos between me and him, I want him to do great things and I bet he wants exactly the same for me, training was behind closed doors, we had some great rounds, I tried chicken parmo hahaha, we had a good laugh and we definitely will do more training together in near future.”

I completely agree, George is a great guy and it’s great to see warriors of the cage train together.

The new year has given us some explosive nights of violence with the CW roster thus far, with plenty more nights of pure unadulterated organised violence to come, next up in Manchester.

“It’s been great. I’ve had some great fights, some big upsets, some not as big, but that’s what it’s all about, compete so you know where you stand.

Absolutely. And of course, a new year brings new personal objectives set out by the warriors of the cage, having such a platform that gives many fighters such as yourself the opportunity to fulfil these goals. Have you set out any of your own, as you take your 1st walk to the cage in 23 and don the famous yellow gloves once again?

“I have a lot of goals in 2023, mainly to be a good role model for everyone in my gym, for my kids. Work hard, fight the best competition out there and give my all to win. I have 2 fights left on contract with Cage Warriors, It’s a great organisation to show my fighting style.”

Your unorthodox skill-set has wowed the CW team and fans, as one of the most stand out in the Welterweight division. Each collision has shown a different side of the ‘Latvian Express’.

“I know if I stick to what I’m good at, I can beat everyone out there. I’m there to entertain, my last 3 fights are probably my best ones so far in my career but believe me, there is more to come. I will go out there and entertain people and enjoy every minute in the cage.”

For the fans in attendance, what can they come to expect when you take your 1st step back into the cage on the MMA 2023 calendar year?

“Nothing less than a great fight. It will be technical wildness inside the cage, a calculated  patient Latvian Express.”

I don’t doubt you at all man, I always look forward to witnessing what you’ll do next.

Looking forward, you are set to take on yet another explosive opponent Aleksi Mäntykivi, and it will give the fans to see you both collide from your previous meeting that was unfortunately cancelled back at CW 124 back in 2021.

“Yeah, last time I needed to pull out because I broke my hand, all respect to mantakvini for understanding.”

What do you make of Aleksi as you prepare to battle it out in Manchester, and are you glad you guys get to run it back?

“I’m glad to run it back, I don’t like to pull out from fights and never have, running it back makes me feel better. Alex is a great striker, does some things really good and some not so good like everyone else. I know he will come fight, so I will be there to do exactly the same thing.”

We are now just 2 weeks out from CW’s return to the BEC Arena, and have promised a night the fans will not soon forget.

“You better believe, 100 percent.”

Other than your inclusion on the night,  are there any confirmed fighter’s or bouts in particular that you’re looking forward to witnessing?

“When they promote, it seems like just the guys from Next-Gen are fighting on the card. but there are some good fights like James power and I’m looking forward to watching George Hardwick smash it.”

I’ve been eagerly awaiting James’s return, he really is a great fighter.

It’s been great catching up with you again Madars, I wish you all the best for the remainder of your camp and I look forward to witnessing you out there once again man.

Thank you, Always a pleasure to talk with you Aaron.

My pleasure mate.

Last but not least, do you have a message for the fans that will be in attendance and anybody you’d like to give a shout-out to?

“There is nothing better than bringing 40/50 of my people on my birthday to watch me out there, I look to entertain them.”

“Shout out to all my sponsors, without them nothing would be possible.”
