Renato Moicano Calls Out Conor McGregor for Sabotaging Michael Chandler’s Future

The MMA world knows that Conor McGregor broke his left fibula and tibia during his fight with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021. By April 2022, McGregor was cleared to spar and box again, but he never returned to the octagon.

This delay had a major impact on Michael Chandler’s career, as he waited two years for a fight with the 36-year-old. This long wait is huge for a single fight. And UFC star Renato Moicano has made his feelings clear by calling out the former MMA icon recently.

Moicano Blames Conor McGregor for Chandler’s Career Downfall

Renato Moicano didn’t hold back when he spoke about Conor McGregor. He blamed the Irish MMA star for damaging Michael Chandler’s UFC career. On the Show Me The Money podcast, Moicano shared his frustration, saying Chandler waited too long for a fight that never happened. He believes that long break caused Chandler’s recent struggles in the octagon.

“You know, two years without fighting, waiting, waiting, waiting,” Moicano said. “I think that was a huge mistake by Michael Chandler, be waiting for McGregor. I know it’s the money fight, but you cannot count on McGregor. ”

Chandler was supposed to face McGregor after The Ultimate Fighter 31. But the fight was delayed many times. The toe injury led to the cancellation of the fight at UFC 303. After nearly two years of waiting, Chandler returned—only to suffer back-to-back losses against Charles Oliveira at UFC 309 and Paddy Pimblett at UFC 314.

The 35-year-old also blamed Chandler’s long wait on Conor McGregor’s political ambitions. Since everyone knows Conor is pushing himself for a presidential run, Moicano questioned why Chandler waited so long. Moicano added, “You know, he’s talking about being president. You know, he’s talking about motherf****** President of Ireland. Imagine that, you know?”

What Are The Chances of Conor McGregor Getting Involved in Politics Right Now?

Conor McGregor has shown a strong interest in stepping into Irish politics. He’s even talked about running for president someday. But starting a political career won’t be straightforward for him.

In a chat with Tucker Carlson, McGregor said that Ireland’s system makes it challenging for independent candidates. To run for president, he’d need support from four county councils or 20 members of the Irish parliament.

He’s also spoken out about hot topics like immigration and how the government spends money currently. These views have stirred significant backlash across Ireland.

Even though McGregor is famous worldwide, experts believe his political chances are slim. A recent poll indicated that only 8% of voters would support him, while 89% said no. Former UFC champ Daniel Cormier also said McGregor’s popularity in Ireland is going down.

For now, politics is just an interest for him. What happens next? No one really knows.
