Rising Star – Molly McCann

Being the first English woman to win in the UFC octagon. The scouser is a huge prospect coming out of the UK, now being ranked 14th in the UFC Women’s Flyweight division. Going 10-2 with 4 finishes, Molly McCann is never in a boring fight and is on her way to the top of the division.
Molly McCann went 3-0 at an amateur level with one finish Before moving into the pro ranks. During this time Molly McCann fought in Shock n Awe and Cage Warriors where she would develop her skills ready for the Professional level. Molly McCann would turn pro after fighting Stephanie Quaile at Cage Warriors 68 where she won by Unanimous Decision.
Molly made her pro debut in May of 2015 where she beat Katy Horlick in the first round of their fight by ground and pound. After this, she would take a step up in competition with future UFC fighter Vanessa Melo who was then where she would suffer a loss via unanimous decision.
After this fight, Molly came back with a vengeance and had three fights in the space of six months winning them all, with two by TKO. Molly McCann would then join the Cage Warriors roster and begin her journey to the Cage Warriors Flyweight World Championship. Her first fight in Cage Warriors was at Cage Warriors 82, where she fought Lacey Schuckman to a unanimous decision victory.
McCann would then fight in October of 2017, where she fought Priscila De Souza who was an experienced fighter at 12-7 at the time. Molly would put on another dominant victory, picking up another unanimous decision victory. This would be her title eliminator as her next fight, Molly would be fighting for the Cage Warriors Flyweight Championship.
At Cage Warriors 90, Molly would fight Bryony Tyrell, where Molly put on a striking clinic, where she controlled the octagon, picked her shots, and in the second round she would TKO Tyrell, becoming the Cage Warriors Women’s Flyweight Championship.
After becoming the Cage Warriors Women’s Flyweight World Champion, she was on the UFC’s radar and was subsequently signed to the UFC. Molly made her UFC debut against the Canadian Gillian Robertson at UFC Liverpool in 2018, where Molly fell short and suffered a loss via submission in the second round.
Molly then wouldn’t fight until UFC London in March of 2019. she was booked to fight Priscila Cachoeira, Molly won the fight by unanimous decision however suffered a broken orbital bone. Despite this Molly was fighting just three months later and picking up another unanimous decision victory. The scouser would close out the year with one more fight, this time against Diana Belbita, once again picking up another decision victory.
Molly McCann is now ranked 14th in the UFC rankings and with her humorous personality and fan favourite fight style, it’s with little doubt to say that Molly McCann is a rising star and will continue to take the UFC by storm.
