Declan Fisher 3-0-0 is an English amateur Mixed Martial Artist currently competing in the Featherweight Division, representing Manchester Top Team. An amateur competitor since 2021. He has competed for Budo Fighting Championship, Full Contact Contender And Preston based organisation UKFC.
I recently got the opportunity to catch up with Declan, to gain his thoughts on his upcoming amateur bantamweight title opportunity at UKFC 17.
I’d like to start this off by thanking you for taking the time to speak to me today Declan, how has training been going in the build-up to your scheduled Bantamweight title opportunity?
“Training has gone great for this fight, Lerone just got a sick KO over the weekend at UFC and I was one of his main training partners for his camp which benefited me massively.”
It has been an unbelievable start to your career, with a trio of victories in the amateur division spreading across three organisations. Which of these wars stands out the most for you?
“The night that stands out most to me was my most recent win for the FCC title, it was a picture-perfect night. I stepped in as a last-minute replacement and stole the show with a 41-second knockout”
It’s no surprise you’ve been given such a phenomenal opportunity to showcase your skills for the ultimate prize come November 27th. At UKFC 17, you take on current bantamweight champion Kurtis Campbell. What’s your take on Kurtis?
“Kurtis is a good opponent, he seems quite well rounded and enjoys getting stuck into a good scrap.”
The UKFC has always been an amazing organisation for amateurs such as yourself to flourish. If the night goes your way, will you be making UKFC your permanent and stay and defend the title?
“I’ll fight on UKFC again, but my goal from now until I turn pro is to take every amateur belt in the country. So line ’em up.”
Last, but not least, do you have a message for the fans that will be in attendance come November 27th and anybody you’d like to shout out to?
“Thanks for everyone coming to support, the energy you all bring fuels me to perform, see you there.”
A professional competitor is moulded by the amateur scene, Declan seems to have his eyes fixed on making it one for the history books. Taking on all opportunities he can to equip himself with all he will need to make it an explosive entrance to the pro scene. Keep an eye out for this young prospect of Manchester Top Team, I doubt it will be long before we see him ascend to the ultimate goal with the UKFC and beyond.
