Jean N’doye 9-3-0 is a French Professional Mixed Martial Artist currently competing in the Featherweight Division. An amateur competitor since 2008. He has competed for Bellator MMA, in the Outsider Cup and Cage Warriors.
I had the opportunity to speak with Jean and pick his brain in the build-up to his inclusion on the first instalment of Double Trouble.
I’d like to start this off by thanking you for taking the time to speak to me today Jean, also to congratulate you on your recent fight announcement for CW131. How has training been going in the build-up to Double trouble?
“Thank you guys for giving us (smaller fighters a chance to talk a bit about ourselves. Training has been great for this fight, to be honest, I train throughout the whole year constantly. I’m not properly in a camp. I’ve always been sharp and ready since I came back to this sport.”
Last we saw you in action was back in June at CW124, when you took on Harry Hardwick. After a hard-fought three rounds, it was left to a judge’s decision, unfortunately, the night was not yours. Have you watched the fight back since, what did you take from the fight?
“As you said the night was not mine. And you know that, in this sport, that red dot on your record is hard to live with because it slows down your goals. But to be fair, I loved every second of it. As a fighter, you live for those fights that can push you through and help you grow. I love the back and forth fight, and Harry is a proper soldier.”
The first shot to be fired will be December 10th, you’ll be taking on Tom Mearns. A fighter you’ve shared a card within past events with CW. What do you make of your opponent?
“I think the fight with Tom Mearns is going to be another great fight for the fans at double trouble. He is a guy that always goes forward, pushing pace and action, he’s never been in a boring fight. I’m sure we’ll have a great fight and see great things from both sides.”
The fans of London have had the privilege of watching you battle on many occasions at the iconic York Hall over the past 10 years. What stands out the most for you throughout your career with the London based organisation?
“Man, Cage Warriors have done a lot for me. I stopped this sport for 7 years and they allowed me to come back at that level after all those years. They’ve done more for me than any other job I’ve had in my life, they treat fighters with respect and dignity, win or lose.”
With two huge nights set in stone and confirmation of many wars set to take place for the final card of the year. Other than your inclusion, are there any matchups in particular that you’re looking forward to witnessing come CW13?
“Of course I’ll cheer on some of my fellow countrymen, not because they’re French, but because we’ve trained together for so long. Guys like Mehdi Ben Lakhdar, Konmon deh, Samir Faiddine etc. We’re all true friends even though we’re not in the same gym anymore.”
Last but not least, do you have a message for the fans that will be in attendance and anybody you’d like to shout out to?
“A shout out to Graham Boylan CW CEO and Ian Dean the matchmaker for everything they do for me. And the message for the fans, I can’t guarantee you any results because for the moment I can’t read the future. But I guarantee I’ve trained hard, I’ll give everything I have to go for the win and above all that I promise you I’ll be a real man in that cage. Thank you guys again for the interview.”
Jean has fought eight consecutive times for the London based organisation, many great wars spanning a decade. What a fine addition to the last event on CW’s books for 2021.
