Diogo Ramos 1-2-0 is a Portuguese amateur Mixed Martial Artist. An amateur competitor since 2019, representing Knuckleheads MMA. He has competed for Preston based organisation UKFC over his 3 Fight amateur career.
I appreciate you taking the time to speak to me today Diogo and I’d also like to congratulate you on your recent fight announcement with UKFC. How has fight camp been going in the build-up to your March 12th showdown?
“Thanks for having me, Fight camp has been smooth so far, getting good rounds, just solid work.”
At UKFC18 you take on Team Kaobon‘s Yannick Goitom, a great opportunity for yourself and your opponent to progress on your amateur journey. In regards to your opponent have you done anything in the way of research on Goitom?
“Yeah I watched his last fight, that’s the only one I could find, seems composed but I’m expecting a different kind of style.”
The UKFC has always been a temptation for amateurs such as yourself to showcase their skills in the field. Run by a team dedicated to making sure amateurs and professionals have a secure platform to entertain the fans of the UK fight scene. This being your 3rd appearance for the Preston based organisation, how did you feel when you got the call to once again represent Knuckleheads MMA in the iconic Union Jack cage at the Riva Showbar?
“Feel grateful, the MMA scene in the UK it’s more challenging than in Portugal, so we always like to go there to see where we are at in terms of skills and stuff.”
As previously stated, this is your 3rd appearance for the UKFC. The last fight fans got to witness you in action was back in November 2021 when you got your 1st win in your amateur journey in submissive fashion against Aaron Lloyd at UKFC17 back in November. How did it feel to get yourself 1st victory in the cage?
“A win is a win, but for me, it’s never about winning, it’s about the performance, I felt great in there, performed well, so yeah I was happy with it but there’s so much still to showcase.”
Your addition is one of many action packed brawls added to the stacked card of UKFC18, other than your inclusion on the night are there any matchups in particular that you’re looking forward to witnessing?
“Every fight so far is a banger so I’m looking forward to watching them all.”
Last but not least do you have a message for the fans that will be in attendance and anybody you’d like to shout out to?
“I’d just like to thank my team and the people who have been supporting me since day 1, it means a lot to me.”
