Nathan Lambert 4-1-0 is a Welsh amateur Mixed Martial Artist currently competing in the Welterweight division, representing The Pound Martial Arts. He has competed for Shinobi MMA Fighting Championships, Cage Warriors Academy North West, UKFC and is making his debut for Xtreme Promotions on July 30th.
I’d like to start things off by thanking you for taking the time to speak to me today Nathan, and also to congratulate you on your upcoming Welterweight title opportunity at Xtreme Promotions on July 30th.
I hope training has been going well in the build-up to your highly anticipated return to the cage?
“Yes training is going great, I’ve been enjoying the graft lately, and my coach and training partners have been incredible in helping me prepare to step out again.”
Known as one of the country’s best regional shows, Xtreme has always made it their prime objective to make sure fight fans have some of the country’s most exceptional athletes such as yourself on their cards. July 30th is no exception.
What does it mean to you to be taking part on the main card for Xtreme?
“Means a lot to me to be stepping out on the main card, I feel like I’m getting better and better each fight and I’m excited to showcase my skills time and time again and to win a title would be amazing. I’m hoping that through holding a title I’ll earn some recognition of my ability, and I’ll know that I’m heading in the right direction in my MMA career.”
Widely known for your explosive outings with UKFC, the fans are in for a treat when you take centre stage for your 1st title opportunity across your amateur journey. What can fans in attendance come to expect from you when you take your 1st walk for Xtreme?
“Yeah I’ve had some cracking scraps on UKFC to be fair, definitely helped with getting my name out there and earning these title shot opportunities. This title shot is a big step for my career, so I’ll be taking in the moment when I make the walk. I’ll be on top of my game for this fight, I’m ready to take the fight anywhere.”
The date is set in stone, July 30th you are set to take on Hard Work MMA’s Dawid Zyliński. Who will no doubt be bringing the same desire to stake claim to the gold. What do you make of Dawid in the build-up to your scheduled meeting in the lion’s den?
“I don’t know much about Dawid or his gym but I’m sure he’s putting the work in, I respect any opponent on the opposite end of the cage, he took this fight knowing it wasn’t an easy one and I respect that. But I don’t take any opponents lightly, I’ll be on top of my game.”
If successful in capturing the Xtreme Promotions Welterweight championship, would the notion of returning to defend your title be something that would be something for the fans to look for on future cards?
“Definitely, if the opportunity arises and I need to defend my belt then I’m happy to do just that, I’m looking to stay as active as I can now that I’m back.”
Many exceptional bouts have been confirmed for a night of pure unadulterated organised violence at the Greenbank Sports Academy in Liverpool. Other than your Inclusion on the night are there any matchups in particular that you’re looking forward to witnessing?
“Yeah, firstly Daniel Hughes from our gym is making his debut and he’s an incredible talent that I believe will go very far, I’m looking forward to seeing him showcase his skills in his Amateur A debut. Secondly, Dixon vs Stringer pro lightweight bout I reckon it’s gonna be a banger. I’ve fought Dixon as an amateur before and he’s got some heavy hands, and Stringer is from a very notorious gym at Team Kaobon with the likes of Darren Till. Should be very fun for the fans.”
I wish you all the best for July Nathan and I look forward to witnessing you out there.
Last but not least do you have a message for the fans that will be in attendance and anybody you’d like to give a shout-out to?
“Yeah, I’m back and I’m gonna be a lot more active so stay tuned for fight news. Still have tickets for this bout so get in touch if you wanna see me grab this belt. I also wanna shout out to my team at The Pound Martial Arts. My head coach, Gaz Stalman has trained me since day 1. Also my training partner, a good friend and now S+C coach Becky Hartshorn who’s been consistently putting me through my paces. My training partner and good friend Daniel Hughes who is also fighting on the card and all my training partners at the gym that put the work in alongside me.”
This is a night you do not want to miss with a number of championship title bouts, including a professional lightweight championship between Danny Dixon vs local fighter Chris Stringer.
Another title bout is being contested for our first Xtreme kickboxing rules welterweight championship, this is professional kickboxing rules with full use of elbows, and the two fighters taking on this challenge are Mehmet Kaymak and Marc Evans.
