Aaron Aby 13-4-1 is a Welsh professional Mixed Martial Artist currently competing in the Flyweight Division, representing Reps MMA. A professional competitor since 2013. He has competed for Olympian Fighting Championship, FCC, ICE FC, UKFC, Absolute Championship Berkut, Probellum MMA and Cage Warriors.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for taking the time to speak with me again today Aaron, and also to congratulate you on your recent fight announcement for the CW142 card.
I hope training camp has been going well in the build-up to your highly anticipated return to the cage.
It must be such a buzz for you, not only to once again don the famous yellow 4oz’s, but to also return on the home soil in Wales?
“Hi Aaron, It’s really exciting for me to be able to compete again in Wales. It’s actually where I had my first competition as a teenager, the passion of the Welsh is different and they really get behind you.”
Since returning to Graham Boylan’s phenomenal organisation back in 2021, you have made quite an impression. So much so you have been included in The World MMA Awards for Fighting spirit of year nominees. With the news breaking only yesterday, you must still be taking it all in.
What does it mean to you to be nominated amongst some of the MMA scene’s biggest names?
“The announcement of getting nominated for the World MMA awards hasn’t sunk in yet, one of my purposes in this sport is to be able to give people hope through tough times. The more my story can get out there, hopefully it can help more people. Cage warriors have helped give me the platform and I’m thankful for that. It means a lot to be nominated against some of the biggest names in the game, but also people who have done great things. The award is more than just fighting ability, it’s a special one because it’s about making a positive difference.”

As previously stated, your Mixed Martial Arts journey will continue on when Cage Warriors looks to tear the roof off of the EBBW Vale Centre on August 13th. Across the cage will be Italian Michelangelo Lupoli (5-2-0).
As you prepare for what’s set to be one of the biggest MMA events of the calendar year, what do you make of Michelangelo in the build-up to your highly anticipated meeting in the cage?
“Lupoli is a tough opponent, they all are at this level now! No easy fights in the cage warriors promotion. He has an extensive background in striking and has beaten some big names. I’m expecting a tough fight and looking forward to the challenge.”
Including yourself, only a handful of announcements have been made for CW142, which is leaving fight fans eagerly anticipating future announcements. Other than your inclusion on the night, from what has been announced so far, are there any matchups in particular that you’re looking forward to witnessing?
“To be honest, all the Welsh fights intrigue me. I’m a fan of the sport, UK MMA and Welsh MMA in general. I’m looking forward to seeing the bouts on the amatuer card to the ‘Crazy horse’ Josh Reed, Stephanie Evans and more.”
