Fightstar Championship 23 is drawing near, and with fighters being added to the card left right and centre, the 1st announcement has been made for the Main-Event.

Nathan Rose will take on Stefano Catacoli for the FSC Lightweight Championship on March 11th in the Capital.

I caught up with Nathan as preparations are underway for the night’s violent festivities at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre.

Nathan ‘The Black’ Rose (5-1-0) is an English professional Mixed Martial Artist currently competing in the Lightweight division, representing London Shootfighters. Nathan has competed for UCMMA, Fusion FC, BAMMA, Bellator MMA and makes his Fightstar Championship debut on March 11th in the Main-Event at Fightstar Championship 23.

I appreciate you taking the time out of your schedule to speak with me today Nathan,  and also congratulations on your upcoming Lightweight Championship opportunity at Fightstar Championship 23.

“Thank you.”

My pleasure man.

I trust preparations have been going well for your long awaited walk to the Fightstar cage?

“Yeah, everything’s been all good. No injuries touch wood, my body is feeling good and the weights coming down nicely, so everything’s on point.”

I’m glad to hear it mate, not long tk go now, it’s gonna be a banger.

“Definitely gonna be a good one.”

you were set to return to the lion’s den at Fightstar Championship 23 back in November. Due to unforeseen circumstances no one could have expected, this bout and the highly anticipated card was called off.

Was it always your desire to return as soon as the card was reorganised?

“Yeah, definitely. The ground was already set for me to fight there. So when they re-announced the card I was up for it. I think Fightstar is a high level organisation, it’s got a good production, I was up for it definitely.”

After all the work everyone out in l, including yourself, I’m glad it has been sorted out, it must have been such a blow in November.

“Yeah. I had 100 people coming down to watch me fight, probably more. Everyone arranged their schedule around that day, and I got told at 12am, basically the same day it was cancelled. But what can we do.”

A rewarding return it will be indeed, an opportunity to become the FSC Featherweight Champion.

How did you feel when receiving the call from the Fightstar team regarding your Championship inclusion?

“I was happy to get the opportunity to fight for the title on the show, I felt blessed to be given these kinds of opportunities, so definitely happy. Having it for the title was the extra icing on the cake really.”

Not many will be returning in March, I think it’s a well deserved opportunity for yourself.

You are set to take on GB Top Team’s Stefano Catacoli, a fighter like yourself, blessed with the ability to see a bout through to the later stages, as well as a thirst for the finish.

What do you make of Stefano in the build-up to your collision on March 11th?

“He’s a decent fighter, but they’re all the same. Once they get hit hard we all know what happens to them, it’s all over.”

It only takes 1 hit to change everything in the cage.

“It only takes 1 shot literally, but I’m not gonna be going out there in the hopes of it being one shot. I’ve worked on my game all around, so I’m willing to take the fight wherever it’s gonna go. And I’m gonna take it wherever it’s gonna go, I’m willing to take the fight wherever, wherever I see the opening. Whether it’s on the feet, wrestling or a kick to the face I’m gonna be victorious.”

Definitely worthy of the Main-Event title, I can’t wait to catch it.

“Yeah, it’s definitely gonna be a good one.”

Raj Singh and his team have once again assembled some of the fiercest Warriors the UK has to offer to piece together a prolific card, and prove once again why they are one of the finest regional shows in the country.

Many fighters have been announced to be matched up, are there any confirmed fighter’s that you’re looking forward to witnessing out there in the build-up to your Main-Event inclusion?

“There’s not too many that have been announced that I’m familiar with. But I went to a Fightstar event a bit ago, and saw the amateur Heavyweight Champion Shah Kamali. The last time I watched him he was quite exciting, with a good knockout. He’s very entertaining, ao I’ll definitely be looking forward to watching his fight.”

Yeah, Shah is an absolute powerhouse. I’ve been lucky to have caught alm his amateur bouts thus far, he has a great gift.

“Definitely.”

It’s been a pleasure speaking with you today Nathan, I wish you all the best for the remainder of your camp and I look forward to witnessing you out there mate.

“Thank you man.”

Anytime.

Last but not least, do you have a message for the fans that will be in attendance and anybody you’d like to give a shout-out to?

“Mate the fans and everyone that has watched me already know what I come to do, they know my fights are always entertaining fights, my name speaks for itself. I’d like to give a shout-out to the people who still support me, and look forward to seeing me fight. I always get a lot of support from all my fans, no matter what, I’ve always been grateful for that.”
