Unfortunately Patrick Cummins has had to pull out of UFC Fight Night 102 in Albany, New York. Cummins was set to face Gian Villante, who will now face undefeated Russian fighter Saparbek Safarov, who will be making his UFC debut.
It is unfortunate that injury has taken another fighter off of this card, with Aljamain Sterling and Tatiana Suarez both picking up injuries and being forced out of the card.
As always, there is a silver lining to this grey cloud of injury news, in that Safarov’s professional record (as per Sherdog.com) stands at 8-0-0, with 6 wins via KO/TKO and 2 wins via submission, and all victories bar one being in the first round. With Villante currently ranked #15 in the UFC‘s light heavyweight division, Safarov stands to gain a lot, should he continue his winning ways on 9th December, and catapult himself into the top 15. With a record like his, expect Safarov to bring fireworks to the Octagon.
