Review:

Leg kicks f0r Alves started well. Then Aliskerov drops Alves with a powerful jab. Alves now rocked, Aliskerov puts pressure on and lands a perfect double knee right on the chin of Alves rocking him against the cage. Aliskerov unloads a barrage of strikes on Alves dropping him to the ground and forcing a stoppage. Magomed Ankalaev vs Johnny Walker:

Review:

Head-kick from Ankalaev to start the round. Walker then looks for inside leg kicks to do damage similar to Jan Blachowicz because of his wide stance. Walker is then caught on the counter after missing a leg kick. Huge body straight hurting Walker’s body. He acted hurt to make Ankalaev rush for a finish but then goes for a big knee but misses and ends up on his back.  Ankalaev then lands a knee to Walker on the ground. This led to a timeout, Walker was asked where he was and what round it was, he didn’t answer and the doctor called the fight off. Walker was frustrated and protested the stoppage. A disappointing end to what could of been a brilliant brawl.

Result:

Magomed Ankalaev vs Johnny Walker was declared a No-Contest.

Co-Main Event:

Kamaru Usman vs Khamzat Chimaev:

Review:

Khamzat dominates round 1. Immediately shooting for a takedown and taking Usman’s back for a sustained period, landing ground and pound. Khamzat gets a body triangle and looks for a rear naked choke. Usman drops him off his back before choke his sunk in. 10-8 in some viewers eyes for Chimaev. Round 2, Usman starts to use the jab like he did against Burns even dropping him in that match. Chimaev starts to use teeps down the middle for distance control with his reach advantage. Usman feints takedowns and utilizes a jab-straight combination effectively. Therefore, slowing down the pace of round 2 before Khamzat gets a takedown and ends the round on top. Final round, Usman continues his Jab-Straight usage simple yet effective. Khamzat needed to change his game-plan and gets a takedown and stays in half guard controlling Usman. They rise with 30 seconds left as they trade back and fourth in the pocket to finish the fight, leaving fans wanting it to have been a 5 round fight

The Main Event:

Islam Makhachev vs Alexander Volkanovski:

Review:

Islam dominated the fight. Landing all kinds of kick to the legs, body and the head. Volkanovski prevents a takedown but Islam lands knees in the clinch. Southpaw stance roundhouse body kicks landed perfect for Islam and was a underrated weapon in his victory in the previous encounter. This all built up to the eventual head kick Islam lands. Knocking Volkanovski down and ground and pounding him out for a TKO finish. Volk couldn’t land a single significant strike and didn’t look in the optimum shape. Makhachev remains the gold standard at 155.

Results:

Islam Makachev Defeated Alexander Volkanovski. A TKO finish for the Russian to remain  undisputed champion of the world.
