Cage Warriors has confirmed a title bout for its upcoming return to London. Featherweight Champion Harry ‘Houdini’ Hardwick will make the second defence of his featherweight title when he faces American challenger Javier ‘El Mariachi’ Garcia. The fight is set to take place over five rounds as part of the CW 186 main card on Friday, March 21st, at London’s indigo at The O2.
Middlesborough’s Hardwick (12-3-1) enters this matchup on an impressive career-best run, having gone unbeaten in his last eight fights. His most recent appearance was in November of the previous year, where he successfully defended his title for the first time against Keweny Lopes, a Brazilian force renowned for his striking power. Hardwick showcased his skill by stopping Lopes in the championship rounds. Before that, he captured the 145lbs gold against Orlando Wilson Prins, achieving victory via first-round TKO.
On the other hand, challenger Javier Garcia (12-5, 1NC) is also on a solid run, remaining unbeaten in his last five contests. His last bout under the famous Yellow Gloves of Cage Warriors occurred in June 2024, where he secured a hard-fought decision victory over former title challenger Roberto Hernandez at CW 173. Following that performance, he added another victory to his record by defeating Mauricio Eguiluz via third-round submission outside of the organisation, marking the eighth submission of his professional MMA career.
CW President Graham Boylan commented on the event, stating, “With Cage Warriors and the UFC in town, fans are going to be anticipating a massive weekend of MMA… so we’re kicking things off with some big Friday Night Fights.” He further praised Hardwick’s performances in 2024, indicating that if he continues to deliver exceptional displays, this year could be pivotal in his career. He added, “Javier Garcia is coming to spoil the party though; he’s got a wealth of high-level experience and is crossing the Atlantic to steal Hardwick’s thunder.” Boylan expressed excitement for the event, saying, “I’m expecting these guys to raise the roof on March 21st!”
In addition to the title fight, CW 186 will feature several exciting bouts, including the return of Will ‘Drago’ Currie facing debutant Eli ‘The Israeli Tank’ Aronov, a clash of lightweight prospects between Daniel Crooks-May and Cameron Stewart, and a middleweight showdown between Joe Middleton and Craig Rawlins.
Further bouts will be announced in the coming weeks, with tickets available for purchase. The entire event will be broadcast live on UFC Fight Pass and through international partners.
