Who Could Be Nate Diaz’ Opponent?

With Nate Diaz teasing a summer return to the UFC it raises the question who could his opponent be? Let’s take a look at Diaz and who could be the next man to stand across the octagon from him could be.

Stockton born Diaz started MMA when he was 11 with his brother and fellow UFC star Nick Diaz, now his one of the highest decorated fighters in the UFC and is a second degree BJJ black belt under Cesar Gracie. Diaz had his first professional fight in 2004 for WEC he also had a fight for Strikeforce and Pancrase and he won the Warrior Cup lightweight championship and become the WEC lightweight championship belt before venturing into The Ultimate Fighter season 5.

Diaz entered The Ultimate Fighter with a 5-2 professional record. He won the tournament in 2007 and gained his UFC contract, he submitted all four of his opponents and made it look easy. The BJJ black belt has stayed in the UFC since and now he was a record of 19-11 with notable wins over Conor McGregor, Michael Johnson, Takanori Gomi and Donald Cerrone.

Stockton’s Diaz has said on social media that he was going to return, this is who he could be fighting.

Conor McGregor

The trilogy fight is possible. With McGregor looking like he will be getting stripped of his title this would be the “money” fight for him. Having beaten and lost to Conor it seems like at least one day we will have a deciding fight, will this be the fight in the summer? its to soon to tell, But it’s definitely a possibility.

Eddie Alvarez

Alvarez is coming off a superb win over Justin Gaethje at UFC 218, the underground king will be wanting another shot at the title before long but with Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov fighting next it seems it will be some time before Alvarez is back in the title picture, but a win over Diaz would put him right back up there.

Kevin Lee

A fight between Diaz and fellow smack talker Kevin Lee would sell pay-per-views. Its unlikely, but with both fighters coming off a loss it’s a possibility and a platform to bigger fights for both fighters.

Tyrone Woodley

The most unlikely of the four, but rumours have circled for this fight for a while. Woodley has enough contenders at welterweight for his title but if it’s what the fans want to see it could well happen.

Nobody can say for sure who Diaz will be fighting, but it’s always entertaining when he steps into the octagon, and I’m sure that whoever the opponent will be, millions will be watching.
