Iron Sharpens Iron – featuring UFC fighters Gillian Robertson and Cortney Casey

The UFC is always searching for new fearsome female prospects in an effort to bolster their women’s divisions. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will meet two battle-hardened prospects who are always willing to throw down at a moment’s notice without the slightest of hesitation.

Gillian Robertson – A professional since March 2016 and representing American Top Team, Gillian Robertson owns a 5-2 record in seven career bouts as a professional comprised of four submissions and one decision. Robertson is currently 2-0 in the UFC and was also featured on The Ultimate Fighter season 26 as a member of Team Justin. At FFI Blood and Sand 20, she defeated Monica Medina via unanimous decision. Robertson submitted Miki Rogers via armbar in the first round at Atlas Fights 29. Then at Next Level Fight Club 7, she tapped out Hannah Cifers in the second round via rear naked choke. In 2017, Robertson was chosen to be a part of the TUF 26 cast that would compete for the inaugural women’s flyweight title as part of the UFC‘S introduction of the division. For her debut outing with the UFC at The Ultimate Fighter season 26 finale, she submitted Emily Whitmire via armbar in the first round. In her second UFC appearance at UFN 130 Robertson tapped out England’s Molly McCann via rear naked choke in round two to score back to back UFC wins. With an 80 percent finish rate, she is slicing through the division like a hot knife through butter!

Cortney Casey – A professional since June 2013 and representing The MMA Lab, Cortney Casey holds a 7-6 record in 13 career bouts as a professional comprised of three submissions, three knockouts and one decision. During her tenure with the UFC, Casey has achieved Fight of the Night twice. In her MMA debut at XFC 24 Collision Course, she submitted Kelly Warren via rear naked choke in round one. Casey defeated her next three opponents that included wins over Helen Harper and Tomo Maesawa.  For her third UFC outing at UFN 91, she defeated Cynthia Stanciu via TKO in the first round. Casey submitted Randa Markos via armbar in round one at UFC 202. At UFC 211, she defeated Jessica Aguilar via unanimous decision. For her next UFC appearance at UFN 135 on August 25, Casey will face Angela Hill in a women’s strawweight battle. Good luck Cortney!
