The 3 stars of UFC Minneapolis featuring Maurice Greene, Drew Dober and Roosevelt Roberts

The UFC will return to the twin cities for the first time since 2012 in the third event of the ESPN era at the Target Center on June 29. Here are three fighters looking to make the promotion’s twin city return one for the record books.

Maurice Greene

At 7-2 overall and standing at 2-0 in the UFC, the heavy-handed Maurice Greene rides into UFC on ESPN 3 having finished five of his seven career bouts. With four submissions and one knockout, Greene’s key to a victory will lie in what he is able to do on top once his foe expends his gastank. I expect that this contest will in a finish either late in the first round or early in the second. Greene’s last victory in the UFC was a split decison win over Jeff Hughes at UFC On ESPN Plus 4 in March 2019. In Brazil’s Junior Albini, he is facing a foe with finishes in 12 of his 14 wins as a professional. Albini’s last UFC win was a first round TKO victory over Timothy Johnson at UFC On Fox 25 in July 2017,

Roosevelt Roberts

With back to back wins to begin his UFC tenure and a perfect 8-0 record, rising prospect Roosevelt Roberts has impressed in his first two outings inside the UFC thus far including earning a Performance of the Night bonus in his UFC debut with a first round one submission of Darrell Horcher. Dangerous on the ground or standing up to the tune of seven finishes in eight wins, Robert’s key to victory lies in him being able to spot his opponent’s weak point then going in for the kill. His last UFC win was a split decision victory over Thomas Gifford at UFC On ESPN Plus 8 in April 2019. In Vince Pichel, Roberts will be facing a ruthless knockout artist with eight knockouts to his credit. Pichel’s last victory in the UFC was a unanimous decision win over Joaquim Silva in January 2018 at UFC On Fox 27.

Drew Dober

Having finished 13 of his 20 wins, the durable Drew Dober has had his fair share of scraps in the UFC. With seven knockouts and six submissions to his credit, Dober’s key to victory will lie in how well he channels his aggressiveness in the early stages of the contest. His last UFC win was a unanimous decision victory over John Tuck at UFN 135 in August 2018. In Mexico’s Marco Polo Reyes, Dober is facing an aggressive knockout artist with six knockouts in his eight career victories. Reyes last victory in the UFC was a first-round knockout of Matt Frevola in January 2018 at UFN 124.
